To be released on March 29 by Capitol Records in Sweden is a new Dylan Cover Album by Totta & Wiehe simply titled “Dylan.” Totta Näslund, who died last year, had already recorded his part and Mikael Wiehe has finished the project. All songs were translated by Wiehe. .... ... Thanks to Ole Lien |
THE MOST COVERED…
It’s problematic to make a list of the most covered
songs, because
including the live downloads skews the ranking considerably (for
example,
The Grateful Dead have 135 performances of It’s
All Over Now,
Baby Blue listed.)
So I will list the Top 20 Covered Songs both excluding and
including
downloads. You can see that Blowin’
In the Wind
is by far the most covered song on record/CDs, but All Along
The Watchtower
overtakes it when you include the downloads.

Don’t
let the "contains no Bob Dylan songs"
disclaimer on Joel Gilbert's “Rolling Thunder and The Gospel
Years” DVD
dissuade you from considering this interview/documentary DVD.
The
interviews with the various participants in the recording of Desire,
the
Rolling Thunder Revue tours, and Dylan’s Gospel
years are fascinating
and well done, revealing much new information. Gilbert asks
many
of the questions we would like to ask if given the opportunity to talk
with Rubin ‘Hurricane’ Carter, Scarlet Rivera, Rob
Stoner, Jerry Wexler,
Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, et al that were assembled for this
production.
“Rolling Thunder and The Gospel Years” is well
worth the investment as
a companion to Bob Dylan’s Desire, Live 1975, Saved, and
other 1975-1981
recordings. Click image at left for more information.

Information recently
discovered on the internet attributes
the 1971 Deacon label “Tribute to Bob Dylan” LP
(shown at left) to British
rockabilly/country singer Dave
Travis.
There are no credits on the LP, so it is usually listed as either
anonymous
or various artists. Travis released many records from 1968
into the
90s, usually under his own name but including other anonymous or
pseudonym
releases for Deacon. “Knight Of The
Road,” a 1976 LP released in
The Netherlands includes two more Dylan covers, Only
A Hobo
and One Too Many Mornings. In
light of this new info,
I have moved the album to the VOCALS
section HERE.
The Dave Travis discography can be viewed HERE. |
