I was sleepin' like a rat
When I heard something jerkin'.
There stood Rita
Lookin' just like Tony Perkins.

If you've never seen Psycho, or don't know much about the movie, most of the song Motorpsycho Nitemare will sail right over your head. Not to worry, through, in another month there will be a brand new version of the film at your local theatre that is exactly the same as the original, yet not. -D.G. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ "In the beginning the Universe was created. Tony Perkins was a very popular actor in the late 50's, playing clean-cut, all-American boys. In 1960 he shocked everybody by appearing as neurotic murderer Norman Bates in Hitchcock's "Psycho." He was associated with that role for the rest of his career (which ended, I think, in the early 90's with his death). Side note: for further investigation, rent "Psycho" at the video store. Don't shell out for the imminent re-make.

The re-make is supposed to be an exact re-creation, done as more of an experiment than anything else, and most people will see it only in comparison to the original. See the remake first, you'll be among the few who can apreciate it on it's own terms (just remember, it's a duplication of a movie from another era, when there were very different standards as to acceptable levels of gore vs. story in a movie). Once you've seen the remake, then go right out and rent the original, and see what they were trying so hard to emulate. Even the makers of the remake will probably agree that the original is better. -D.G.

But I believe it was sent to teach people how to love and understand and have compassion for each other. I have learned more about love, selflessness and human understanding from people I have met in this great adventure in the world of AIDS, than I ever did in the cutthroat, competitive world in which I spent my life."
