As announced previously FOREVER YOUNG, The 2001 Bob Dylan Convention will take place from Friday 25 May to Sunday 27 May 2001 to celebrate Bob Dylan’s 60th birthday. As before (our four previous events) this will take place at Sachas Hotel, Manchester, England. Accommodation is available at Sachas, with additional rooms at the Britannia Hotel a few minutes walk away when demand requires. Sachas has bars, carvery, pizzeria (open till 2.00am) and health club. Sachas Hotel is rapidly being booked up though we have a few rooms remaining, in addition to accommodation at The Brittania

The schedule will include guest speakers, live music (on both Friday & Saturday nights for the first time), rare video screenings on Friday night, Saturday daytime and Sunday morning/early afternoon (on a BIG screen), Bob Dylan Quiz on Friday (which everyone can join in and share the prize), merchandise stalls (Saturday), food, bar extensions and more! Saturday night will be a Bob Dylan Masquerade Ball with a prize for best costume (optional) and includes The Legendary Bob Dylan Imitators Contest

Events will run from around 8.00pm till 1.00am Friday, 10.30am till 1.00am on Saturday, (but with the hotel bar open for residents later on both nights) and 10.30am till 2.30pm Sunday (running longer this time, due to the popularity of the video screenings on Sunday last time).

We are pleased to announce that the main guest speaker on Saturday is CESAR DIAZ. Cesar spent from 1988 to 1995 with Bob as guitarist at 60 shows and as Bob’s personal guitar/amp tech. He has also worked with Stevie Ray Vaughan and The Rolling Stones. A further guest speaker is to be announced.

Music on the Friday night will be from DAVE GARDNER and THE HELLFIRE PREACHERS playing a dedicated Dylan set-list, featuring Dave, Michael Chapman on lead guitar (yes, THE Michael Chapman, recording artist since the early 1970’s, more info on www.michaelchapman.co.uk/concerts.htm), Anne Topping on violin (shades of Scarlet!), and Rob Marsden (previously played with members of Fairport Convention and Capercaillie) on drums. Dave has supported many major artists. For more info on Dave’s career and his CD releases, you can visit his Web Site at ammoniterecords.demon.co.uk/DaveGardner/

Saturday night entertainment will feature C.P.LEE presenting his Lord Buckley tribute (remember ‘Black Cross’ from Dylan performances in 1961 ?), and we are pleased to welcome back BULLFROG JONES following their great success in 1998, with a wide variety of Dylan songs and related covers. This time the line up will feature the ‘mighty Hammond organ’.

On previous attendances, we expect around 300 people from throughout the UK and all over the world (over ten Countries represented in the past) providing a unique opportunity to celebrate Bob’s birthday with like minded fans and old friends, and get to know new ones. Already bookings have been received, from all over the UK, USA and Germany.

Prices have been held at 1998 prices. Booking form is attached, to be returned to the address below. Please e-mail us if you have any enquiries.
