An incredibly underrated drummer. The key to Bob's '66 sound. I'll be playing it x loud for him.

Little known Mickey fact.
After he left Bob (motorcycle accident) he was picked up
by Kenny Rogers to become part of the First Edition.
“Yeah, yeah, oh yeah.”

Thanks for the history Mickey!
You are missed.

His work with Dylan isn't even mentioned in the article

Without him, this incredible music of the 1966 tour wouldn't have been possible.
A great drummer. And a life well lived.
RIP Mickey Jones

RIP Mickey Jones

His drumming certainly worked for the Hawks on that 1966 tour. Music that still hits you more than 50 years later. Thank you.

"Also a musician". Given his contribution to the greatest rock tour of all time, that's a depressing sentence to read.

So sad.

(He also had one of the greatest cameos ever on The Chris Elliott Show in the tool belt fight episode.)

Yep! That was incredible. I knew him from that before I knew he even played drums, let alone for the greatest tour of all time. It blew my mind to learn he was that guy too.

Nice to see a half decent publication going as far as including a picture from 1966.

He was a great part of the 66 tour. I often think of that scene from No Direction Home where Bob is told someone called to say they would shoot him.

"Don't worry Mickey, I'll protect you"
