How relyable is the dating of the MacKenzie home tapes in the tracklist of the copyright CDs?

Hard Times In New York Town
Tracklist: Jan 29, 1962
Dundas: Nov 23, 1961

The Death Of Emmett Till
Tracklist: Jan 29, 1962
Dundas: Dec 4, 1961, but stating this track is not firmly placed

I Rode Out One Morning
House Of The Rising Sun
Tracklist: Fall 1962
Dundas: Apr 19, 1963

See That My Grave Is Kept Clean

Ballad Of Donald White
Tracklist: Fall 1962
Dundas: Sep 1962

Are there any more up to date informations available?

I was wondering the same thing so I listened to the tapes. This is only my opinion and based purely on the circulating tapes, but here goes:

From bjorner:
September 1962
1.Unidentified Instrumental
2.See That My Grave Is Kept Clean
3.Ballad Of Donald White
4.A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall
5.Unidentified Instrumental
6.James Alley Blues

This tape is continuous and James Alley Blues ends with Eve(?) laughing. I Rode Out One Morning (bootleg copy) begins with Eve laughing and ends with the tape cutting off. Playing it after James Alley Blues sounds like it fits. I agree with Sony on this one, Fall 1962.

April 19, 1963
2.Unidentified Instrumental
3.Don't Think Twice, It's All Right
4.Unidentified Instrumental
5.Long Time Gone
6.Only A Hobo
7.House Of The Risin' Sun

This tape has a break during Only a Hobo, but Bob picks up where he stopped so it seems like the same song. During the Instrumental Bob talks about recently playing Hollis Brown during the Town Hall concert (4/12/1963). Eve also asks about whether a song is on the "new album," which would indicate a 1963 date and not 1962. Considering this tape has continuity and House of the Risin' Sun is the same here as the 50th release, I agree with Dundas that it's April 19, 1963.

Just my opinion for those 2 songs. The other songs I can't tell just from the tapes.

Thank you very much for your estimation. I can follow your explanation very well.

Leaving the question of the first and/or second McKenzie tape. They were allways assigned to Nov. 23 and Dec. 4, 1961. Jan. 29, 1962 was never a known date for either tape.
