It's been mentioned before, and I think we agreed to use the sites search engine.
But if enough people would want a thread with all the track talk links, I could make one.

Let's do it. It would be good to have it all in one place

Excellent idea.
Search engine doesn’t always work for everything.
Try searching I & I, for instance.

Thank you, in advance, Sirr Dogg!

Not a bad idea!
It would be up to cameron though to change the original post.

I’m behind the idea as well. Some songs (I & I, If Not For You, etc) you can’t search because of common words in a title, so a specific place with all of them would be great!

I've had that problem with searches, too. All words used were "too common" so the search engine didn't use them. I'm not sure how a Track Talk forum would fix that, unless it were alphabetical or something but I don't know if the software would even allow that.

It is a great resource after all these years, especially with Nellie adding copious notes from the major Dylan authors about so many of them. One reason most people found this site in the first place was to talk about the songs - both the words and the various performances.

I think it's a great idea.

Oh wait, a sticky thread with links to each track talk - yes that could be done, but would surely be a lot of work!!

Again, counter-intuitive as it might seem since the track talks are NUMBERED...what would be most useful, imo, would an alphabetical list. I believe there are currently 499 track talks, that's a lot of scrolling to find what you're looking for.

I agree, I think either an alphabetical list with its own category in the 'Bob Dylan' forum would be great, or else a sticky post in the 'General Discussion' forum with an alphabetical list of song titles, each linked to its corresponding track talk page.

What do the numbers mean anyhow?
I never quite got that or paid much attention to the numbers.
Some “tracks” might have multiple threads for the same song too.

Like this a bit further down the page?
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1081

Just link to them from the track talk threads over time, I guess.

Eventually Karl Erik's great-grandchildren will edit it down to a 1,000 page book which will be the definitive source of earthly knowledge about Bob Dylan's music.

I feel responsible for the messiness of the whole thing. It was started years ago and
I just took it up and started adding things and never shifted to a more tenable system.
Smoke's example looks great and would be fun to see in full:)

I believe only Tangled Up In Blue has a couple entries...
Other than that, I think it's all one song per TT.

I think it’s great, not too messy at all.

What I meant is other folks sometimes unknowingly started similar threads about a few of the same songs that could be either combined or referenced by some amazing person willing to take it on.

Masters of War is a current thread example, for instance.

Thanks for creating these Marker. I think Mez collaborated too.
