Would have worked great as a set opener.
Is there some reason anyone know of as
to why he's neglected this toe tapper?
Considering he's played every other song
from TOOM i just find it odd he singled this
one out for exclusion.
Anyone ever read or know any reason why
he's never played it?

It was recorded for M&A.

I've never heard the M&A version, just the TOOM one,
but he's yet to play it in concert sadly i quite like the song,
it is what it is but its gotta be dusted off as a set opener,
Things Have Changed, as much as i enjoy it, could do
with a rest and Dirtroad Blues would be a cool replacement,
perfect opener for him to get the old vocals oiled up.

Ah i recall it now, it was a snippet in the film wasn't it.
Just hope he decides it's worthy to enter the touring setlist someday.

Things Have Changed is a better set opener but I agree that Dirt Road Blues would have worked until Things Have Changed was released

Things Have Changed is infinitely better than Dirt Road Blues.

DRB has potential though - always puzzled me why he never gave it a spin. And don't get me started on Narrow Way...

I thought I read the track was based on a soundcheck and only Winston Watson could thump out the beat. Other drummers were unable to reproduce it. I submit that sometimes Dylan likes music even if the lyric is forgettable.

Dirt Road Blues is a great song, great fun to play on guitar and sing, great fun to sing along to in general.

He really should play it it, it would be a great jam for the band.

Totally agree, but just fancied a change for a set opener.
But wherever he played it, it'd be a welcome song if he played
it and it'd really suit his current band and sound.

Hard to imagine George not being able to take this on.
He’s quite capable.
