SL was remastered (again) for the complete album collection:

I get remix and remaster confused. Did I do it again?

Ah gotcha. Remastered is fine by me, but I don't care for the remixed version as much as the original

The Complete version of the album is the original mix.

I´m embarrassed to say this, but I played a couple days ago Where are you tonight, after hearing all the praise here. I didn´t have a clear memory of that one, it´s been a long time since I heard Street-legal.
Verdict: yes sir, it´s great!

Street-Legal is my third favourite Dylan studio album (After Blood on the Tracks & Desire). Also how can anyone get hung up on a missing - (Lol)

mine are the same.

street legal is second, though

1. desire
2. street-legal
3. blood on the tracks

I played the whole thing yesterday. Like putting on a warm blanket, sentimental slop from Dylan fanatic years. Love the remix but still doesn't rise to anything I'd call classic.

Dylan's best album, ultimately for me.

Desire runner up, followed closely by Blood on the Tracks.

You either feel it, or you don't.

I Love this album. Easily in my top 10 albums, probably top 5.

It came out when I was in high school.

Somewhere in this universe is a place that you can call home." Still looking.

Totally agree. When I first heard Where Are You Tonight I thought it was the new Like A Rolling Stone. But I don't think he played it in concert after 78-79. Shame.

I think that goes uniquely for Street Legal. Objectively there is a lot to challenge
Street Legal with. Coherence, for instance.
Dylan was so out on a limb, so frayed; the album is a bit of an unmasking.

People talk about Is Your Love In Vain, and it is misogynistic for sure. But it’s also
startlingly honest and revealing about Dylan’s approach to relationships.

Are you so fast that you cannot see that I must have solitude?
When I am in the darkness, why do you intrude//Do you know my world, do you
know my kind//Will you let me be myself//I've been in and out of happiness

Here is a writer who is beyond caring about making favourable impressions. He’s been
‘burned before’ (& burned others too), he realises his conditions are quite demanding
but he knows himself, his needs and limitations and is willing to put the worst cards
on the table and lose love if necessary.

I was wondering recently..is there another song in Dylan’s canon in which he has talked
as plainly and bluntly about himself? I listen to Love In Vain and I do believe the song.
It’s still an ugly picture, but there’s a measure of devil may care honesty & vulnerability
too. And that elevates it above tunes like ‘The man in me’.

Was listening to it last night and realized what an underrated song, "True Love Tends To Forget" is.

Very true. What surprised me is I like "True Love...." almost as much as "We Better.....," Señor, Changing..., and the stealth classic, "Where Are You...."

The sax and backing singers, are just so late 70's.

Some good-great songs struggling to be heard above the porridge of production.

For the porridge to be served one had to wait for the ‘85-‘86 tandem.
Certainly the remastered SL is transformational compared to the initial
release. Greg Calbi worked a small miracle excavating a decent sound
from the sub-standard pressings we knew and heard before 2003.

I have a remaster dated from, I think, 1999, which sounds fairly impressive. Have I missed something?
