Sorry, I missed your question. It is not the money. It is just too much stuff. I'd never listen to it all, and to none of it in any depth.

As for those who have certain bootlegs, I would think it only fair to Dylan that, of them all, these are the ones that should be bought. They've had the use of them and if they wish to continue to do so, they should pay for the privilege now that they are for sale.

Bravo on your last point - totally agree! Of course, I'll hang onto my Genuine Live 1966 as well...

I sincerely hope you won't regret not spending the 110 Euros on this box. "Never" could be a long time coming, but I certainly understand the overload fatigue brought about by these huge releases. I've barely scratched the surface of the 1965 Live Copyright download which came with the BS12 Collector's Edition, for example. One day I'll find the time.

At my age, the days are not getting any more plentiful. Ten lifetimes wouldn't be enough for all I have already. One never knows what one's got 'til it's gone, so maybe I will regret a missed opportunity some day, but I doubt it.

This is a very personal guess; maybe I'm wrong, but I'm sure that if they release all this stuff as a free donwload on the official web, and at the same time they release the box with the 36 CD... maybe they will get a pleasant surprise. I'm convinced that the sales level would be nearly the same. I'm sure.

the discussion of the hype to have it
makes me think you have a good guess,
i suppose these old business men can't see like that though

I'd buy it on vinyl but I'm not buying CDs in 2016. So for now I'll just get the 2LP set.

Think I'm going to wait and see what the reviews are in terms of sq. I'm a bit concerned that the one track they have chosen to promote the collection has a distorted vocal. Yes, it's a pulsating performance and yes the band are captured superbly but the vocal distortion does concern me a bit. If this is the cream sq wise, I may not rush into a full set purchase.

^ It sounds like distortion in the PA system in this particular case. I don't find it that bothersome, I'm not listening to a string quartet.

Same. I'll happily download it from somewhere or rip it from a friend's copy.

I'm just glad it's not vinyl only. I'm not buying LPs in 2016.

I'm tempted, but do I really want that many more or less identical shows? Probably not. Not even sure about the RAH set - how different is it to Free Trade Hall?

They're exactly the same. Dylan went through exhaustive lengths to do every show the same way.

I guess this will retail for around £80 in the UK, so not really sure.

The T shirt and RAH 2 disc set, looks more like I deal I'll go for.

I'll download this box set for free just like I have the last few products Dylan Inc. has released.

I have no problem stealing from a guy I've paid money multiple times to see perform crippled by drugs and alcohol.

I consider it a refund.

For now I'll stick with the 2 LP "Real RAH Show".

I'll maybe buy the box when I find some sort of gainful employment in the (Hopeful) near furture

i don't want to think that
bob would have you
feeling so dissatisfied and cheated,
but consider
who are you really stealing from?
i still don't think you're getting even
with the guy you're mad at,
he might even laugh at you

I might buy it once it's remaindered. Or the price drops. I would buy a 150 minute curated abridgment. If I buy it the booklet better be wonderful or I'll just digitize it and sell it to a "used" store. The Bob romance seems to be over. Once I admit that Dylan's in some part a product of my era I'm less interested in the Dylan ephemera and more interested in listening to the best stuff I can find regardless of genre. Not just Dylan, either, although he was hyped more than anyone else. I look at stuff like Great White Wonder and just laugh. For a time there everybody was Weberman.

The booklet has already been spotted and it is a rather slim volume......See the side-on photo earlier in the thread below:

PS if 'curated' is the word for compiling legacy recordings these days, so it must be. Still, it does make me think of museums, infinity, trials etc

Sorry but this makes absolutely no sense.

Seeing him once and feeling this way, you may put it down to "A bad gig" but anything after the second gig, is down to YOU !!
Nobody forced you to go to any concert.

As for downloading items, I have no problem doing it with anything not released. However when something is available legally, I would feel just guilty.

This is unclear - exactly who was crippled by drugs and alcohol at the shows mentioned, Mona or Bob?

That's the way I see it. You can't buy what's not for sale, but when we're privileged with the option of buying it, it's either do so or delete your bootlegs. I don't know if one should apply that when the price charged is unreasonable, such as the third Tell Tale Signs cd but this box-set is certainly not unreasonably priced.

Personally, I would hope that these shows, or at least the best of them, will be offered separately, so I can buy a cross-section, but RAH will do for now.

It would be better for the environment not to buy it.

Well yeah, I get that it's the same setlist. I just wondered if there were any significant differences in the performance itself - different solos by Robbie, etc.

Oh that's what it was. I was wondering why he looked so exhausted all the time on that tour.
