So, who's going to run for it? I'm not. Hours and hours of shows from the same tour I wouldn't listen to twice... It's not worth for me. It's the moment for me of giving up being completist.

36 Cds of the most important tour in musical history. And at a price that is within my range (Just). For me it is a No Brainer.

I'm 95% sure that I will buy it, so I clicked yes.
I know that it's overkill, even more so than the 18 CD version of The Cutting Edge (which I didn't buy). But the price is reasonable and even if I'll only ever listen to a few select standout shows, it will be worth it. Dylan live in 1966 is an eargasm! And hopefully we'll find out now which performance of "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues" appears in Eat The Document (or was it No Direction Home or both?) that I like so very much.

I've already given up being a real completist long ago - I still don't have any of the regular live albums, except for Hard Rain, about which I am lukewarm at best. (I did once have Dylan & the Dead, but apparently purged it. Nor do I have that live comp, and am still missing the Gaslight and Brandeis stuff, as yet. And, while I covet the hotel recordings disc in the complete Cutting Edge (not to mention I'd love some curated cross-section of the live 1965 stuff), I could not justify the price, so got the 6-cd edition.

I'm also, so far, not a huge fan of BS4 - I mean, I like it, don't get me wrong, but it's utter brilliance, as attested to by many, has thus far eluded me.

And yet I pre-ordered this set! Why? Well, the price was too good to pass up, and I am very curious about these recordings. How often I will actually listen to them remains to be seen, but I'm looking forward to it.

As a relatively new Bob fan I don't have the extensive collections some of you others do. So I am excited by this new release.

$150

You seem like more of a casual Bob fan if you haven't followed this news closely.

Can anyone tell me how this set will differ from the Jewels & Binoculars collection? Specifically, whether it might exceed that set in quantity or quality?

26 CDs vs 36 CDs. Live 66 has the quantity.
New soundboards that have never been heard. Live 66 has the quality.

Thanks. I changed my vote to no. Costs too much. You're right I'm more of a casual fan who doesn't follow the news closely.

But if Bob were to put out a new regular priced album of new songs I'd buy it no questions asked.

If you look hard enough you can order it for around $110 now. After awhile it will probably be available for less than $100.

I might suggest you go for the 2 cd Real Albert Hall instead.

I bought the 3-CD set of BS8, for more than this set will cost! Ludicrously expensive, although I love the 3rd disc. I bought the 4-CD set of BS10 ASP because I was there at the IOW in 1969. But by BS11 Basement Tapes, I was getting wary, Sony were squeezing the lemon too much. I stuck to the 2-CD set. I bought the 6-CD set of BS12, The Cutting Edge; the 18-CD set was way, way over the top price-wise. But this box set is very reasonably priced at last. And those shows are why I am a Dylan fan. Those songs and those performances are the bedrock as far as I am concerned.

The easiest purchase I've made in years...

The value is mind boggling.

Me too.

I would buy a 2 CD set for $20 or less of 1 show that threw in the "rare" songs from that year like To Ramona and Positively 4th Street. If it existed.

I must be missing something :

Too expensive???

£100 for 36 CD's.

£2.78 per CD.

Bob Dylan 1966 tour. Forever preserved in a beautiful box.

Starbucks. One Caramel Machiato. £3.05 (apparently - I don't drink the stuff myself)

One pint of beer in England. £3.38 (apparently - I don't drink the stuff myself)

Glug, glug, glug. Gone.

Will it be released digitally or only on clunky cd's?
