In my opinion, some of the saddest Dylan songs:
Boots of Spanish Leather
I Was Young When I Left Home
Long And Wasted Years
I Dreamed I Saw St. Augustine
Dirge
Not Dark Yet
Abandoned Love

None. The closest I get is Bob Dylan's Dream.

I cried the first time I heard the BLS 1966 version of Just Like a Woman. I always thought the lyrics were a bit less than Bob was capable of but this version and its delivery in all respects moved me in 1998 or 99, whenever it came out. I love the Drop-C tuning.

Long and wasted years moves me to tears. It is just so sad.

Most of the Time
Standing in the Doorway
You're A Big Girl Now (New York Sessions)

Those are the first that come to my mind. I do like a lot of earlier ones too, for making me emotional (i.e., Boots of Spanish Leather, One of Us Must Know), but those other three have near pulled a tear out.

I was young when I left home and I'm not there have made my eyes as moist and emotional as my nipples.

Several of them have over the years. None of them have lately.

One of Us Must Know, To Ramona (specifically the, "Deep in my heart I know there's no help I can bring" line), Soon After Midnight did once, You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go.

Sometimes I've teared up just at an overwhelming feeling of the majesty of the music I was listening to, without any real sadness being involved in the music. Other musicians have caused this reaction a time or two as well...none as consistently as Bob. I can be a bit of an emotional guy at times.

I stopped listening to Dylan and all music for a few years because Bob Dylan's Most Of The Time song reminded me of an x girlfriend who treated me like garbage. It took a long time to get over that. I'm glad she's out of my life. That was 25 years ago. :D
