Make one heck of an opener. Or closer. Actually Bob, stick it wherever the hell you want in the setlist.

Not a fan. Other than Granchester Meadows I don't really like any of the studio half of Ummagumma.

Ummagumma requires a certain mood and atmosphere.
Bob's Narrow Way cranks you out of your seat regardless of the situation.

Oh, it's a brilliant song. It reminds me somewhat of Someday Baby off MT, but just more raucous and it's funkier. Just edges out Pay in Blood as my favourite song on Tempest. Every time I hear this track, I feel like dancing around the room.

It's lightyears beyond the MT album take of Someday Baby altho the TTS version is majestic and another beast altogether.

Narrow Way is a cracker tho. A modern day Tombstone Blues.

It is tied with Pay In Blood for my favorite track from Tempest. The tie-breaker is decided upon whichever was listened to more recently.

Blitzkreig of a song, crawling barbed wire guitar. God becomes man. Man is hellbent on destruction. The greatest story ever told and he sings it with such love and grace.

OK, Bob. It feels like this would really work as a surprise.

Here's to hoping that you'll pull it out in Japan's courtyard of the golden sun.

Succinct and accurate. Really sums this song up.

Welcome to Expecting Rain. Like your moniker too-refers to one of my favourite Basement tracks.

It's almost certainly going to replace Spirit On The Water in the setlist.

That'd be a double-bonus.

It seems doubtful that he will veer towards faster moving songs at this point.
With (finally) a Set change up in Mainz, he seems to be sticking with lullabies & snoozers.
Good, but requires a lot of coffee to make it through the Full Moons & Willies...

Still won't give up Narrow Way hope. Can't.

Interesting how opinions change. After re-reading my previous comments made over a year ago, Narrow Way is no longer my favorite song on Tempest like I stated. Although I still really love it, Long And Wasted Years has taken that crown for me. Having said that, I do think that Narrow Way is the best song to hear live off of Tempest, as it would seriously kick you right in the jaw. Hope it gets played at some point!

Yeah, Narrow Way probably wouldn't really work all luded & Shadowed down...
Plus it would double the song delivery length.

About three meandering, poorly written verses too long for my money. And the guitar riff is too repetitive. Lonesome Day Blues puts it in the shade. I doubt it will see the light of day.

It's possibly a tad too long but I still have it ahead of Lonesome Day Blues (which I like a lot I might add)- NW has so many delicious lines and I love his vocal on it which is the perfect mix of smoothness and growl when each is required.

That is true- What a great, full song- & it would really work slowed down, even mostly spoken. The darkened stage setting could make it even more alive, just in a different way.

The CD version has a lively tone, but he could do Narrow Way with a great darker interpretation too. Imagine a deeper-voiced Dylan-speak after each little scene he paints in the song, intoning

"It's a long road
it's a lonnnnng
and Narrow Waaaay"
