What’s On in Madrid? Bob Dylan!
Madrid Destino Cultura Turismo

Bob Dylan is a living music legend. With over thirty albums under his belt, the American is one of the most relevant figures in the 20th century culture. Tireless and non-conformist, the singer-songwriter’s style varies depending on his artistic concerns. In March, he is coming to Spain to review the traditional song book of the United States and to perform classics from the 1930s and 1940s.

The artist made his debut in the 1960s and he was presented to the world as a folk singer-songwriter with messages filled with social protest. He soon moved away from this genre and made rock his source of inspiration. His sixth album, Highway 61 Revisited (1965), was an inflection point in popular music. The first single on the Like A Rolling Stone album has been chosen as the best song of all times by the Rolling Stone magazine.

Throughout his career, Dylan has explored blues and country, but it has been his lyrics that have marked a before and after in the history of contemporary music. Through his songs, he talks about a wide range of social, political, philosophical and literary issues. Indeed, he is the only musician to have won a Nobel Prize, which he won for “creating a new poetic expression in the tradition of American song”.

In 2018, the Never Ending Tour which has been running since 1988 is coming to Spain to give six concerts in the cities of Madrid, Barcelona and Salamanca. At these concerts, Dylan will perform classics by Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Bing Crosby, Billie Holiday and more American artists from the first half of the 20th century.

Really looking forward to watching Bob Dylan this year in Madrid. I guess the setlist will be similar to the one in Lisbon. Hopefully the strike does not affect the show

Love a trifecta.

Watch out for the newbie security replacements.
Could work in your favor though.

I will be moving to Madrid end of April, so I will miss seeing Bob live for the first time in my life for merely a few days.
Condolences/sympathy are welcome :(

Unless the photo angles of some of the web-based images might be
deceiving, the stage may be a little lower, favoring those who worry
about Bob sight lines.

The write up clearly states that he’s featuring the standards; could it be they are gone forever?

Priorities? I dunno. I guess family and work are meant to be at the top, followed by everything else, including Bob. Or so I'm told. But i don't know, kudz.
You're a wise man of the world, so please tell me if I'm wrong. If you make a convincing argument I can theoretically still get on a last minute flight and attend!!

Well I’m sure our piano-tuner friend in Lisbon helped with that order.

Don’t risk your neck, Nek.
Not worth getting booted out of there.

Not telling you what to do.
Just remember why you’re there.
We can wait it out.

Speaking for myself, there’s an endless supply of beer over here.
No worries! Please let us know your thoughts afterwards, if you want to.

Thanks Zim!
Although I prefer the Fall arrangement with its little bits of start/stop drama,
I really like that they continue to push it around and keep molding it.
A little harp at 3:05 would be perfect IMHO.

(Gonna drop a copy of this in Salamanca too)

Nek! I’ve totally reconsidered.
I AM telling you what to do!

Maybe just leave your phone in your car or
in a freakin Yondr pack so you’re not tempted.

No need to be put on security’s 3-night “Shit List” on Night #1.
