Hard to believe this could ever happen at a BOB DYLAN show. Of all people. The right wing's new found public embracing of open racism is a disgrace and shameful.

From Facebook group "The Loft" today:

‎Jack Regan‎ to The Loft - Sirius XM 30
1 hr · Decatur, GA, United States ·
Welcome to America, 2017. This is by NYC a singer-songwriter friend:
I went to see Mavis Staples and Bob Dylan at the Beacon theater here in NYC last night for my mom's birthday and they were AWESOME! Such a killer show! However, at some point during Mavis's set something very upsetting happened. Mavis was between songs giving a little uplifting banter, as she does, when someone yelled something out from the audience that she couldn't quite hear. I heard it though. Loud and clear. She walked over to that side of the stage with big smile on her face and said "What's that sir?" and he repeated "You're a bitch ass N-word" except he didn't say N-word... he said the actual word. What the x New York?! My heart broke and my blood was boiling! I looked down from the balcony to see who it was, expecting someone to be surrounded by a bunch of angry New Yorkers and getting punched in the face but no one was even looking around! Mavis didn't skip a beat... she just said "Why do you have to be so mean?" and kept on with her show.... she didn't let it get to her... at least not while she was on stage. I sat there livid, shaking, on the verge of tears for the rest of her set. And then I realized in horror that it's probably not the first time she's dealt with something like this. The show went on, no one did anything and it was as if it didn't happen. My happy New York bubble of everyone living together in harmony was burst. If I was down on the floor with that x you can bet I would have done something about it. GROW UP AMERICA! Have some class. And x you Trump for allowing hatred to step into the light. Mavis, you're a gem and a true rockstar... A true inspiration

So utterly sad to think that morons like this are confident of uttering their hatred in public.

Is this Jack Regan just trying to start shit?
Who the hell is he anyways?
If it’s true, I’m appalled.

Disgusting.
Why can’t a person be ejected for such abusive behavior?

Wonder if Bob knows. He invites his dear longtime friend to tour with him after all these years and this happens.
And in NYC of all places. Unfortunately I'm sure she's dealt with this before but it still must be disheartening.

When I saw her in Philly she was so sweet and charming with her banter. And so respectful of Bob. She got shown plenty of love there and pretty much everywhere.

ROCK ON MAVIS!!

Looks like now would be a good time for Bob to bring back to the stage after more than six years his best NET opener, "GONNA CHANGE MY WAY OF THINKING", this time with Mavis.

After the way a Bob audience behaved towards Sinead O'Connor at the 40th anniversary nothing surprises me. There really are some x in this world. But hey' he's only a pawn in their game' - right?

Wow, that is revolting. How on earth did no one punch his lights out or call security to physically remove him from his seat?

What a woman Mavis is to respond that way. God bless her.

Wonder if Bob heard about it before or after the show? Or at all?

I feel a duet comin' on.

She learned from the best: Pops Staples & MLK.

Yeah, you're right - it *must* have been a socialist, because public displays of racism are on the rise on the left. And this kind of thing is common place at a Bob Dylan concert.

Oh wait, no they're not and never have been. The end.

I am devastated over this. Actually have tears in my eyes. That woman is so delightful, inspirational, and kind personally to me. She is always so welcoming to me at her shows and at Bob’s and that absolutely makes me want to puke. My heart is torn bc she is a wonderful person. She confronted a bully with class and dignity. I would have flipped out and gotten my ass kicked by that guy for a confrontation. I know me. Omg I can’t believe this.

Considering this incident happened between songs and it would be relatively quiet surely everybody in the x's vicinity heard this obscenity. This guy at the very least should have been harassed and even photographed and exposed. At the very MOST he should have been punched upside his Neaderthal head!!

Me too. I can't stop thinking about it. This is disgusting, what an horrible human being. I sincerely hope someone said something, I can't imagine everyone around remained completely mute.
