Based on the last couple years, it seems like we should be getting new tour dates announced any day now.

2016: US dates announced March 7th. US leg started June 4th.
2017: US dates announced March 20th. US leg started June 13th.

So we're kinda overdue for an announcement. I'm expecting some dates to get announced soon, even if they're not US dates.

Most likely Japanese-centric dates.
Australasian? Hawaiian?
We can only hope.

Not overdue, I'd say. The last few years we usually seen three "legs", with the first one being Europe now, the second one being in Japan and possible Australia/NZ (unless it's a combination of Festival dates in Europe with a one-off in Japan on the same "leg") and the third likely to be in the US.

The Japan date is July 29, so even if he does a full tour Downunder prior to that, it would most likely not start before Mid-July. So the announcement could come a full month after the dates you mentioned above.

In fact, bd.com says that the exact date of the Japanese Festival will be confirmed in April, and they will probably announce more dates then, too.

Maybe they will add some US west coast dates after Japan and then Scandinavia/UK in the fall?

It certainly would be a first. During the entire run of the NET, there's only two year 2011 and 2015 - where Dylan did not play the *majority* of his shows in North America. Even in 2011 and 2015, he did play close to 30 shows in the US, playing shows West to East in 2011 and covering everything from the East Coast up to Texas in 2015.

Anything's possible, I guess, but I for one wouldn't put my money on a schedule that doesn't include a full US tour. Years without shows in the UK and or Scandinavia are much more frequent.

When Dylan tours down under it is generally a 3 week exercise. Last time round he did a show in Perth, one or two in Adelaide, four in Melbourne, four in Sydney and a couple in Brisbane, then he popped back to Sydney for 2 nights at the Opera House. Close to 3 weeks when you allow a days travel and set up at a new venue. Flying from Perth to Adelaide is around 3,000 miles. I don't think any other major artist has toured Australia so often or so intensely over a 50 year period. The guy deserves another medal.

At this stage of the game I'd be gobsmacked if he returned to Scandanavia / UK / France and the Low Countries before 2019. He did the full package here one year ago so although I'm hopeful I just can't see it happening. I've got the usual withdrawal symptoms and really should have done one of the Italian shows, Zurich or Vienna but as my wife recently underwent the surgeons knife I couldn't commit to anything this time around. I'm still missing it like hell though!

I understand you well. I miss it too and I saw it last night in concert. In any case, I believe that either this autumn 2018 or spring 2019 Bob will return to the UK / Northern Europe.
Best wishes for you and your wife!

In my opinion, looking at the last years:

2015
Spring: US
Summer: Europe (Germany, Slovenia, Austria, Italy, Spain, France, Switzterland)
Fall: Europe (Scandinavia, Germany, France, UK, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Italy)

2016
Sping: Japan
Summer: US
Fall: US

2017
Sping: Europe (Scandinavia, Germany, BeNeLux, France, Uk, Ireland)
Summer: US, Canada
Fall: US

2018
Spring: Europe (Portugal, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic)
Summer: Japan --- maybe US Pacific
Fall: maybe US

2019
Spring: Northern Europe or US
Summer: Europe or US/ the other based on the spring tour
Fall: probablily US

What do you think about it?

I pretty much agree with your diary apart from one thing - Australia and New Zealand are due a visit and I believe that will be a stand alone tour not linked to any Japanese dates this July, especially if he does a residency in 'Tokyo'.

most likely he'll concentrate on the US, UK and Europe anf form time to time he'll do a tour of Japan or Australia. The sun rises every day, a year has usually 365 days and things tend to fall down (not upwards) and summer follows spring and autumn follows summer and Christmas is in December etcetctc

So we know which day Bob and the band are appearing but has anyone found a page in English with ticket details etc. Do we know if you can go just for the one day or whether you have to go for the full weekend!

This site is just in English and has all the pertinent information about the festival: http://fujirock-eng.com/

It looks like tickets are currently ¥19,000 (just under $200) for a single day, which doesn't include campsite or parking (an extra ¥3000 applies for each). Looks like quite a hassle - hopefully some Tokyo dates are announced soon!

The Festival looks to me as if it could be an exclusive thing? It won't be a one-off show for Bob, so more dates in Asia / OZ / NZ yes, but a full Japanese Tour is not certain, I'd say.

That festival must pay well then.

Can’t recall the last time we had no dates, beyond one, as a Leg ended.
Perhaps we shall hear about Summer this week...

I don't think any dates for last year's fall tour had been announced when the US/Canada summer tour ended, right...?

It's just a guess, but yes, the pay is the only reason any band has ever played festivals since the beginning of time.

Correct. It looks like last year's summer tour ended July 27, and the fall shows were announced September 11.
