ed & editor, Tue, 26 Aug 1997 Often mistakenly quoted as the former husband of Sara before she married Bob Dylan. In fact, he had nothing to do with her, she was married to Hans Lownds! His entry in the Who's Who is therefore valid only as an aid in clearing up this misunderstanding. Date: Thu, 03 Aug 95 16:08:52 EDT: Victor A. Lownes, Playboy exec, connected with Hefner early on, circa 1954, 26 years old, 2 kids and separated, and a recent grad from University of Chicago (MBA). With Playboy Enterprises in various capacities, various vice-presidencies, always a close confidant of Hefner. In 1980, was senior v.p. in charge of the casinos worldwide, the moneymaking part (read "cash cow") of the whole Playboy empire. Was leading the effort to open up Atlantic City, New Jersey, U.S.A. for gambling from his London base. (Owned a country mansion with 40 rooms, and a woman in every one). At the height of his power was accused of irregularities by the British gaming authorities. Was fired by Hefner, before Lownes even appeared before the authorities, in an obvious attempt to not queer the New Jersey deal.
