Who was the leader of Ronnie Hawkins and the Hawks, the
Hawks being the Band, who of course sent on to Dylan fame, etc. Hawkins
was with the Rolling Thunder Review (I think), he at least appeared in
"Renaldo and Clara" and "The Last Waltz", though he recently has done
some pretty tame country rock TV specials, very glitz and commercial.
But his place in the history should be acknowledged, don't you think?

From: "Ken Tuck" (interweb@pipcom.com) Newsgroups: rec.music.dylan Subject: Ronnie Hawkins Date: 4 Mar 1997 20:34:32 GMT He's been called a legend. To his early fans, he was Mr. Dynamo. To Bob Dylan, he was "my idol". To John Lennon, he was "Sir Ronnie". To himself, he's Rompin' Ronnie, The Geritol Gypsy. To all of us who know and love him, he is simply "The Hawk". Ronnie Hawkins has an official site! http://www.pipcom.com/~thehawk/ -- Cheers! Ken Tuck interweb@pipcom.com
