Mary makes a post:
Look at me! I've made a post!

STEP 1
John clicks Quote at the bottom-right of Marys post. He'll see his quote of Mary in HTML (computerese for HyperText Markup Language) code like this:

Image

 John does not alter Marys post in any way or type within the brackets.

If John has nothing to add but only wants to quote Mary, he clicks Submit (with or without Previewing) and Marys post appears like this:
Mary wrote:

STEP 1 (alternate)
John has instead decided that he wishes to respond to Marys post, so he types his reply either above or below it (but NOT within it), as he has done below:

Mary wrote:

Your post is lame, Mary. Come up with something worth quoting.

STEP 2
John then clicks Submit, and has successfully quoted Mary.

I was not aware of a feud between John and Mary. Have they made up yet?

Mary has learned that she loves quoting and now quotes John with joyful abandon!

Thanks for this tutorial. Quoting seems to be a tough task to tackle for some posters here.

My first post. I have a comment and question. First the comment: I have front row center seats for the 10/14 concert in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Yeah, It's all good :D Now the question. Can anyone help me contact the BDX artist John Johnstone? I love his print. It has an interesting similarity to a Woody Guthrie print I got from a Nashville poster maker. I don't know if this is the best way to get some asssitance on this, but I reckon it's worth a try.

Is making up quotes acceptable? If people think my opinions are supported with people accepted and regarded as wise and knowledgeable I will appear more intelligent.

Did he really say that or did the gospel writers just make that up?

I'm still not sure if I can quote successfully, so I'm going to give this a try... please let me know if it's not successful.

"To be, or not to be, that is the question... whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or to take legs against a sea of troubles and by opposing end them."

One error... who wrote it? One should always give credit where credit is due

Would you not expect that from a Dylan fan on a Dylan forum?

He's just borrowing from the folk tradition...
