Hi.
I know that this discussion is about TTRH and I love that show. My question to you is anyone archiving Tom Petty's Buried Treasure show? Second to TTRH it is one of my favorite shows on XM. I have gone to the TP discussion site and have asked the question, no response. I think it is great that Croz and Blindwilly had the foresite to archive TTRH from the beginning, we are very lucky. I hesitate to say that the people at the TP site are...idiots, but they rave about putting up just a playlist. This is a great show and should be shared by all. Not everyone has access to XM. So if there is an archive of Buried Treasue out there please can you share.

Thanks,
Whitlo

I've also searched for these and they seemingly don't exist (except perhaps in someone's own private vault).

Hi,
Well I wouldn't bother going to the Tom Petty.com message board. I tried and only got into anargument for the trouble. Their response was that I was looking for a handout and perhaps I should record them myself, or I could join the Tom Petty fanclub and for $10 a month listen to all the shows I want online. Thats nice I suppose but that won't help me put it on an ipod or listen in the car. Oh well so it goes. Thanks again to Croz and Blind Willy for making the TTRH shows avaiable here.

Did anyone ever find a place to grab these? I've been searching for ages to no avail. Thanks!

I don't know how I missed this discussion before but I believe I can help you out.

I have 86 of the 90 shows that have aired so far. They are mp3s encoded at 160kbps and include tagging info for the show but are not broken up into individual songs. I wired my Roady XT receiver into the input jack on my computer and used GoldWave to record them. Pretty much all are good quality, with 4 or 5 shows having a bad spot or two when the signal went out; one has a whole bunch but it’s still listenable.

I apologize for all the details, but if you’re like me, you’re picky and don’t want to get your hopes up and then find out the files are garbage.

If someone can tell me what to do now, I will gladly share them!

b.t.w. TomPetty.com lists last week’s show as #91 but I’m pretty sure this is wrong.

That's awesome, ExLurker. You could dump them to a DVD or post them on rapidshare and post the links here. You can email me directly if you wanna set up a trade. I've got loads! ;)

Yes thanks ExLurker,
It would be very cool if the shows or a link to the shows could be posted here. I really like TP's show but hate dealing with the people at Tom Petty.com. Since the merger and the deletion of XM2 I have only heard 2 shows of this season. So thanks again.

Count me IN for wanting these shows as well! I have searched forever for them and have had th same "f**k off" experiences at the TP web site. I would gladly trade you for them as well. Let us know how you will proceed.... :D

Okay, here we go, let’s see how much trouble this causes…

I’ve never used Rapidshare before and don’t know what to expect, but I’ve set up a Collector's account and have loaded it with the 18 (of 20) Season 1 shows listed below. I tested a download from another PC and it did work. I plan to have the next three seasons loaded, perhaps one per week, in the next couple of weeks. After that, I’ll load the new show each week. Once season 4 ends and they start playing reruns, I’ll try to get the missing/”damaged” shows.

Enjoy!

Thanks, Ex!

I've never listened to Buried Treasure. Do you/anyone have a recommendation for a good example show to start with? For example, if I was recommending TTRH to a first-time listener, I'd probably recommend the Baseball, California, and War shows from the various seasons.

Thanks again.

It’s hard to recommend any particular show, since they’re all pretty much a random choice of music with no direct “theme”. Plus, I didn’t keep track of just what’s on each show, and it’s too difficult to find the older playlists on the TP website. I would just say to listen to them in order.

Hi and greetings from Melbourne Australia...thanks for posting these Tom Petty shows. I am listening to the first one now and it is a hoot...He has already played two of the all time great r&b partystarters Shirley Ellis's Nitty Gritty and The Beatles doing Little Willie John's Leave My Kitten Alone...all this plus Lee Dorsey singing Allan Tousaint's A Certain Girl...I wished there was a play list but i guess Tom's fans ain't got the trainspotting urge
Goog fun and perfect for car tapes
Best wishes
Nasty Nigel

Thanks so much XL! I've always wanted to hear these TP shows and never knew where to go to get them. Downloading the 2nd show now- loved the first.

Just finished Show 1 and, as others have noted, while its not TTRH, its very good. Reminded me a lot of (dating myself here   ) of Tom Donahue's show on KMPX during the glory days of free-form radio in San Francisco.

Thanks again, Ex!

It is so awesome that you posted these here. Are there more? I'd love to hear the rest.

But I've gotta say - and I LOVE TP to death - this isn't much different than hitting shuffle on my iTunes library. There aren't really any surprises here. And Tom's voice overs are just kind... well, there. I'm not complaining; I'm glad he's doing this. But it it ain't TTRH, that's for sure.

Anyone?

Like I said before, Buried Treasure is just a random sampling of music picked by TP. If I had to vote for which show was better, TTRH would win by a landslide. But face it; any source that gets you to listen to music you wouldn’t normally hear is definitely better than the same old thing that’s played on the radio these days…sigh.

Anyway, here’s season 2…

Hey I really like this, I lost most of these shows when my last computer went down.
Tom Petty is doing these shows in a 70s DJstyle . I record this kind of stuff, like Don Steel and Charlie Tuna airchecks
Thanks alot
