I haven't been able to use font colors or different fonts like boldface or italics for several days.

smokin downthetrax,

Might you have visited your
User Control Panel > Board Preferences > Edit Posting Defaults
and changed "Enable BBCode by default" to "No"?

Or, alternatively, you may have checked the box for "Disable BBCode" that appears below the text box each time you author a post.

An update of the forum software from 3.0.1 to 3.0.2 has been done, with various bugfixes.

re: bigger avatars:

Just a teensie bit bigger would also mean you could use the ImageShack picture upload for avatars (I think the standard is 100x75). Also, what is a Kiib? (I kept getting error messages when I was trying to do a new avatar that said there was a limit on that but I don't know what it means)

The reason for limiting avatar sizes is to reduce the loading weight of forum pages, as well as making the forums readable without excessive scrolling.

Avatar dimensions are now set to allow sizes between h20 X w20 and h100 X w140 pixels.

Also, the maximum image filesize now allowed is 10KiB (10240 bytes). If your image file exceeds this size, you will need to make it smaller.

You can achieve this by opening it in an image application (such as GIMP, Photoshop, Paint etc.) and do one or more of the following:
- Resize the image using the application tools.
- Crop the image using the application tools.
- Choose "Save as..." and adjust the quality settings to reduce the file size.

A gallery of generic avatars (flags, butterflies, garden) is now available for those who do not wish to upload their own. If anyone out there just happens to be sitting on some Dylan-related images you would like to see made available as avatars for all users, let us know.

The place is still getting sluggish. At 10:00am it wasn't moving at all. Every now and then I have it where I can get to the forums and the sections but I can't get the threads to open.

It wouldn't be that I don't think, the disable BBCode box isn't checked & the Options list to the left of the text box says BBCode is ON. Also the Posting Defaults on the Edit Control Panel show BBCode is enabled. It must be something else.

I noticed on the Forum Index page under "Who Is Online" that it no longer gives the number of unregistered people online. It doesn't effect the forum on way or the other, but was something I am always curious about. Like, "Oh look, there are 6 registered users, 4 hidden, and 32 unregistered users. Why, do so many people look but never participate?"

Anyway, the new look is great. BTW - I hear there is a new web site for children of famous musicians. Jakob Dylan and Rufus Wainwright seem to be leading the pack.

My only problem is I keep having to login even though I check the box before "Log me on automatically each visit"
Anybody else have this problem or have a solution for me?

Other than that....Thanks for the upgrade :D

My guess is that many of those unregistered users are actually registered users who aren't logged on. It's because even if you're a member, you're probably not logged in when you're reading threads until you want to post. Then you get logged on.

Grazie!
Like I said, one of my pet peeves was when folks' avatars stretched the page, so I understand the need to regulate the size

BTW- I really dig yours. Fits your name well

My Jacqueline, the Dallas air has clearly had a wonderful effect on you. You look ....radiant. Or is the anamorphosis playing tricks on me, and you're really Katherine Ross?

umm... so how about cutting down on this 3 minute wait time? Perhaps back to 30 seconds?

In a short while, we will start the process of upgrading the forums to version 3.0.1. When that happens I will lock the forums so that nobody can make new posts until the forums open again in the new version. I hope your patience will be rewarded!

How do you submit art for consideration for the exhibition of the forum?

If you mean for the BDX, you email it to me the webmaster. It is along time between updates of the BDX, I can tell you.
If you mean you want to post art in the forums, it can be done, just read the manual - it is somewhere, exactly when I don't know right now.
