'Ain't runnin' any race' (Country Pie)

Whenever I sense the spectre of pointless competition, or pressure to be great and do things in record time, and I want to point it out that that's not necessary. I've altered it slightly to 'I'm not running in any race'.

He not busy being born is busy dying.

Never stop learning, embrace change, turn negatives into positives wherever you can, don't afraid of anything, use your time wisely and wildly.

Amen. If life is a race, then death is the finish line. If others want to sprint up ahead, go for it. I'll take my time here in the back, thanks.

The destination, after all, is the same for everyone. And we need not sweat reaching it, as it cannot be avoided.

No use getting there early.

Watch the parkin' meters.

I never wear a watch and most of them indicate the time.

'You got a lotta nerve to say you are my friend'

Sums up loads of times I've been let down by people I thought better of.

where one does not belong,
so when you see your neighbor carryin somethin
help him with his load,

That one.

Also:

"It is not he or she or them or it that you belong to"

And

"People are crazy and times are strange"

When I feel lonely or displaced, I think of these lines from We Better Talk This Over:

"You don’t have to yearn for love, you don’t have to be alone
Somewheres in this universe there’s a place that you can call home"

I agree with some of the people above, that It's Alright Ma is probably the best Dylan song to draw life lessons from.

What looks large from a distance, close up ain't never that big.

Been my experience that what I worry about most turns out to be the least worrisome problem.

She knows too much to argue or to judge.

(Well, I'm only 18 and a Dylan fan since 17, so I can only speak for one year - but this line may be the one that has helped me the most. )

"They say that patriotism is the last refuge to which a scoundrel clings. Steal a little and they throw you in jail, steal a lot and then they make you king.”.

Rings more true today than 1983!
