2004:
Glad you were there for that Double007!
My plane was just landing in Detroit as Jack took the stage!
One of my worst flight delays ever, results-wise.
The plane was only delayed a few hours...ugh.
Was trying to thread the needle and, instead, the damage was done.
Thanks for the venue correction to State too.

Back to 2017:
Have a great time everyone!

Been a long time since I posted here. Life, etc. as they say. Or someone says. Or I say.

Anyways, Bob has been on a roll for the past few years, invigorated by the covers records he did (much like how GAIBTY and WGW relit a fire that ended up giving us TOOM, L&T, the great touring years of the late 90's / early 00's, etc). Singing in fine form (not sure about the theory he had his throat cleaned out or stopped smoking - there were always hints he could still sing, just sometimes perhaps a choice or effort / lack of effort to project the notes instead of bark them). Detroit show continues a streak of some great shows I've seen over the last few years, only this time a bit of the old Bob flavour with some radical re-arrangements of some recent songs were mixed in with his excellent takes on some standards. TUIB wasn't as successful IMO, but it is nice to hear him working on his songs (read: his *own* songs) again after several years of minimal work on them. The effort and some of the old spirit is there and I appreciate that just as much as anything else he did.

As my friend Allison pointed out to me (her first Bob show), "we're well into the bonus rounds now" with Bob and to have shows at this level of quality and commitment on his part at his age, after some of the lows where his voice had gone to in the late 00's / early 10's is truly remarkable and another in a series of late career surprises Bob has generously provided us with.

Nice thoughts. I agree about the covers invigorating him. Static setlists are fine as long as we get new arrangements. It shows he's not bored.
