The studio log says that All along the watchtower is a splice of takes #3 and #5. I've always been good at spotting splices, but I can't find it. I thought it was at 00:30 because there's a little drum flub but after listening a few more times I'm not sure. What do you think?

I've never been able to spot it either. Right when the vocal comes in at 00:15, the fidelity slightly changes but I'm not sure if that's just due to the vocal track now being in the mix.

Seems like it would be noticeable in the drums. A chopped off sound or a slight tempo change. There's no way there was a click track, so an undetectable splice would require quite a bit of skill from both the tape operator to cut the tape right and the drummer to nail the same tempo through separate takes.

Someone will point out where the splice is and suddenly it will be obvious .

^ Sounds like a bunch of splices. That song is a mess.

Not when your name is Kenny Buttrey. No. You don't fashion a name for yourself in the fast moving Nashville scene in the 50's and 60's for nothing.
