Think about that carefully. The Bark Ages was a period of great barkness, best left in the past.

Better for the music to distract you from your phone than vice-versa.

And commiserations to the dead ones.

Tonight's show was great. Way better than yesterday and everyone on stage seemed to be having a lot more fun.

Clearly, some lessons were learned: the noodle was cleaner, even if it lasted longer than usual (not Stu's fault though - George needed more time to get set); Tony figured out that his jacket shouldn't be buttoned ; even the entrance for the encore was smoother, with Charlie - always a gentleman - holding the curtain until Bob got to the top of the stairs.

Bob started the show standing at the piano and that seems to have made a huge difference on THC. Also, throughout the whole show, it was clear that there are 2 things the band seems to love: Bob hitting the piano keys while standing and Bob dancing with the mic stand. Man, did they have fun with it. Every time Bob went back to the piano, the boys on the other side of the stage just lit up. On several occasions, Bob went a bit over the top with the dramatization, but it kinda worked well with the overall mood.


I don't really have time for a song-by-song comparison right now, so I'll just add that I'd love to know what it is that Tony and George talk about during the introduction to DW that always makes them laugh so much.

My accountant emailed me from Stockholm, having just seen tonight's show. He last saw Dylan at the IOW, and would never describe himself as a fan. However, he loves bands, and professionally specialises in royalties- Clapton is a client- so he thought he'd try and see Bob again, since he happened to be in Stockholm, doing an audit. Picked up a 4th row (!!!!) seat on viagogo, 'expecting to walk out after 10 numbers' but he stayed for the whole show, which he thought was great!

Today's "Scarlet Town" https://www.facebook.com/groups/thebobd ... 930207978/ for me is better than "That Old Magic" https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.p ... 268515%2F&, because it is Bob's own song (and I think nearly all of us were more happy to see him play "Standing In The Doorway" yesterday than to listen to any new GAmS-tune; and we (at least I) will be more content to listen to "Ramona", when it will be posted here, than to any of the songs from the five so called Sinatra-cds)
Although I wish, he would play another setlist, I'm happy to realize that his voice sounds as great as his band (so I'm looking forward to "my" show in less than two weeks)

Doorway sounds good with Bobs current voice.

Loved That Old Black Magic video! Wish I had a ticket for this tour!

I attended both the Stockholm shows and I'm very happy with both of them. The Sunday show was possibly even better than the Saturday show, but they were both excellent. Bob Dylan weaved his old black magic so well. Some people complain about the lack of surprises. I can kind of understand that, but how is the first performance of "Standing In the Doorway" since 2005 not a surprise?
Dylan had a lot of energy was obviously commmitted to performing the songs in the best possible way in Stockholm. He may have stumbled over a couple of lines in "To Ramona" on the second night, but he was word perfect on nearly every other song. I'm really not sure a half-remembered "Spanish Harlem Incident" would have been much better than, say, tonight's "Soon After Midnight".
I remember the days when we almost expected Dylan to drastically change the setlist every night. Those days are long gone and unlikely to come back. It's time for some Dylan fans to accept that.

I thought "All or Nothing at All" was the weakest performance on Saturday, so I was quite happy when he replaced it with this wonderful performance of "That Old Black Magic".
On the other hand, he thought "Spirit on the Water" was a suitable replacement for "Standing in the Doorway". You win some, you lose some.

Fair enough. And I accept the fact that long gone are the days of dropping a hundred bucks to go see Dylan replay the same old same old every night, save some crooner tunes he's come to fetishize in his golden years.

I attented both shows in Stockholm this weekend. This was my 14th and 15 Dylan show since 1998. Both shows were very good indeed! Good energy from Bob and the band. (So good actually that I am still on "the show high":)

The music these days are so well performed and just sound amazing! Standout performance for me these two nights were Standing In The Doorway. Love Sick, Scarlet Town and Black Old Magic. When Dylan sang them you could really feel just how much the words mean to him. But these shows also made me realize just how good and true many of the songs on Shadows In The Night, Fallen Angels and Triplicate really are!

I just feel so grateful for being alive and able to see the Shakespeare of these modern times create his extraordinary art on the stage!

Ps. The first night, just before the show I got a little chit chat with Sara Danius, the Secretary of the Swedish Academy, who was my litterature teacher at Uppsala University back in 2004 when I wrote my Master thesis in Literature: "Bob Dylan. Lost love and Mortality in Time Out Of Mind and "Love & Theft" ". I asked her about her meeting with Dylan that afternoon but she just gave me a little smiled and said she couldn´t really say anything due to the secrecy oath the members of the Swedish Academy are under. But that little smile gave her away...

Me too. I think these 'Sinatra' classics, especially with the way the band gets into it, are better live than recorded. Hope he reprises it at the Palladium on the 28th. Also hoping that Roll on John gets an outing, if not at the Palladium- although that would be appropriate, since it was The Beatles October 1963 Sunday Night at the London Palladium performance, and manic fan reaction outside the theatre, that had the UK tabloids coin the term 'Beatlemania'- then in Liverpool.
