Triple-Snoozefest... I just can't stand the cheesy sound of this slide guitar he uses in every arrangement, ruined both albums for me.

Doesn't "triplicate" literally mean "three times the same"?

Yes. Does he know that??

Triple album of junk, basically. He has the right to do whatever he wants. He's given us so much, he's worn out, this makes him happy. Who cares? We will forever be grateful for all the superb music he has enriched our lives with.

People are moaning like it's all over.

Don't knock this album until you hear it. "I Could Have Told You" sounds great, and like someone said in another thread, the release and recording of more standards doesn't take anything away from a future album of originals. Remember the long wait between albums of originals from Under the Red Sky to Time Out of Mind, and the acoustic albums in between? Was it not worth it? The longer, the better, and Tempest wasn't his last.

BRING THIS SH*T ON. Can't wait to spend time with this album.

Also, so glad to see that "Once Upon a Time" made the release. Been playing that video many times.

I ordered this because it's Bob. But I've never looked less forward to a Bob release since becoming a fan around the release of Oh Mercy.

Now that he's figured out how to not sound like a throat cancer patient, it's too bad he's not writing his own songs. If I want to hear this kind of music, I'll listen to Johnny Hartman.

I reckon I know exactly what Bob is thinking...

"I suffered for my art, now it's your turn"

I hope the arrangements are a little more varied on this set than the last two. While I like the last two, they've not gotten a lot of spins in my house because of the lack of variety. The most exciting aspects of this set are that it is large, contains the rest of the known similar recordings, and hopefully ends a trilogy of cover albums.

Cue a bunch of music "critics" to lavish brainless praise on this new collection of snoozers.

Sinatra recorded Soon on a radio show. Bob sang it at the 1987 Gershwin tribute

Self Portrait was a bad album that Bob mythologized later as an attempt to smear his reputation.

This is the real thing.

That's very interesting. You could fit 75 minutes onto one CD if you wanted, so Bob's obviously making some sort of statement with the title and number of discs. What that statement is, I don't know/care.

It was just pointed out to me that Sinatra once made an album that was split into 3 separately-titled records:

There's also the Harry Smith Anthology, split into "Ballads", "Social Music" and "Songs"; something that has repeatedly influenced Dylan throughout his career.

Many of these songs I'm excited to hear him do, but man what terrible cover art!

I actually really like "I Could have Told You" and I agree that his voice sounds really nice here.
But it sounds like the same arrangement and the same sleepy pedal steel as Shadows.
I'm not sure I need 5 albums of that....

This trend also makes me a little resentful that he continues to bark-growl through his concerts because it's obviously, an artificial limitation.

I know whining about his voice is so passe but wtf man?

It's entirely plausible that Once Upon A Time could just be the audio from the Bennett show right? It was recorded in a studio without an audience so what would be the benefit of rerecording it?

I am officially complaining, this is all too much.

Will I go out and buy it? Really not sure at this stage.

I can't believe all the grown assed complaints. What did you listen to before Bob, Pat Boone?

I also like that this introduces us to some of the greatest songs all the time. Like when Bob would be criticized for picking lines from old songs/poems...he responded that no one would be talking about those works if it weren't for him.

I'm going to bring that ideology here: He is reintroducing us to an incredible catalog of music. I think it's cool.

Yeah, but we had 101 episodes of Theme Time Radio Hour for that.

I am thrilled there will be another awesome album of covers.
Thank you Mr. Dylan!

Exactly! If Bob Dylan does it, you must bow down and say - "Yess massa!"
