So there's this "Deluxe Vinyl Edition" does anyone know what exactly will make it more "Deluxe" than the regular Vinyl edition? The only thing that would make me shell out for the "Deluxe" one would be an extra disc with a complete NET performance from 2015

The final song of the collection features a lyric stolen by Dylan

Why was I born, why am I livin'?
What do I get, what am I givin'?
Why do I want a thing I daren't hope for?
What can I hope for? I wish I knew

Why do I try to draw you near me?
Why do I do I cry? You never hear me
I'm a poor fool, but what can I do?
Why was I born to love you?

I'm a poor fool, but what can I do?
Why was I born to love you?

Fantastic news! Three Dylan albums of new recordings released on the same day! Great song choices.

I'll see him in anything, so I'll stand in line ...

Appreciate it. :|

Triplicate your efforts, Dylan. Now go home, you're drunk.

For all connaisseurs of typography, the "Triplicate" typeface is set in Goudy Text:

Released in 1928, Frederic W. Goudy based his blackletter on Gutenberg’s 42-line bible typeface.

Who actually wants this? I didn't think I could not be excited for a new Bob Dylan album. I'm dreading the thought of sitting through 3 CDs of this stuff. The joy of SITN and FA was that they were nice short contained pieces. I don't listen to them much, but when I do they're always nice because they're a nice length to listen to and make for a cohesive package. 3 CDs of this is just going to be overkil. Who's buying it apart from completists? Hopefully this means that the Sinatra period, in the studio at least, is now over.

I can deal with maybe 4 at a gig. I really want Don't Think Twice, still never seen him do that, as long as I get some Dylan originals I've never seen live I'll be happy.

It would be pretty Dylanesque to release 3 CDs of new material then play none of it live. We can hope, can't we?

Part of me thinks this is a sly reaction by Bob to the Cutting Edge and 66 Box. Want 6CDs of studio material from the 60s? How about 3CDs of Sinatra material?

I'm guessing the 'deluxe' version will have the 3CDs over 6 LPs (which will cost a fortune) and the 'standard' version will probably have an abridged tracklist over 1 or 2 LPs.

EDIT: If each CD is only 25 minutes long, then they could comfortably fit in on 2 LPs. Even just 3 sides.

But why 3 cd's that are each a half hour long? No...but yes...something about the loony tunes nature of this release appeals to me. I think it's going to be great, the Self-Portrait to end all Self-Portraits.

And, I think there will be a Lanois release this fall.

That's very interesting. You could fit 75 minutes onto one CD if you wanted, so Bob's obviously making some sort of statement with the title and number of discs. What that statement is, I don't know/care.

3 Sinatra-ish albums
3 vinyl LPs
didn't want to think of different title for CD / digital release

That might be the reason why this release includes 3 separate CDs, even though those 30 tracks could be fitted into only 2 discs. Just like the first time around he recorded enough tracks for what were always planned to be 2 albums (SITN and FA), he might have picked these tracks for 3 albums and now we get one CD for each of them. Whether that was the plan all along or whether the content of this year's release was changed to get all this material out of the way is anyone's guess.
