See the comments section. Seems like it's more a licensing issue at this point.

Thanks for the link. Do you think it would help if we all reply on that comment thread and agree with Darren O’Dell’s comment that they should upload the speech? We have a direct line of communication with them now!

Yes thanks. Here are the comments:

When is the DVD being released? There were statements that the Dylan Musicares DVD was to be released in 2015, but that didn't happen and I've heard no news since.

Michael, it continues to be our aim to release this amazing tribute to Bob Dylan, but it’s often a Herculean task to acquire all the licenses and approvals necessary to get it to market. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that we can get all the rights in place to share this remarkable night with fans.

Graham E. Fone Thanks for the answer. At this juncture, just a release of the Nobel laureate's speech via social media should be available for public consumption. It's culturally important and relevant!

I was going to comment on there but now I realize it’s futile. They won’t release the speech alone because then nobody will buy the dvd of the whole show. All about the $$ unfortunately.

I suppose they could release it with the Nobel speech as a bonus.
Or make MusiCares a bonus to the Nobel speech...

I think that if one were able to view and listen to the speech, that a whole new appreciation of the humor and warmth that it carried would be gained. What may seem cold and irritable on the written page, could be delivered with a tongue in cheek or a smile on the face.

I agree, although its ashame its read out like a Jeremy corbyn speech, he does become more relaxed as it goes on.

If Dylan inc hadn't dragged their heels over releasing this we might have had the official release already.

It's not so much Dylan's copyright, but that there's 20 or so artists on various labels that have to all be worked out. Springsteen's Musicares took a couple of years to be released.

Same with the "Wonder Years" Box Set. It took a long time to be released because of all the artists on the soundtrack and in the show. If you watch the Box Set, some songs are not
the originals which aired on the series.

It took the tv show Batman nearly 50 years to get released on home video.

How long did it take for the complete basement tapes?

I too thought a year would have been sufficient, given its an annual award but thats showbiz!

I'm guessing Dylan Inc. has made it clear they don't want it shared here. They certainly had it pulled from youtube immediately despite thousands of unofficial clips remaining up.

The peace between the Dylan camp and his fans on illicit recordings has been uneasy at times but genuine and mutually beneficial, so I feel ER should respect what is presumably the wish of Bob Dylan himself.

That said, the clip got out, and will make it's way around to those who really want it eventually.

Smoke- I think this is really well put and I agree 100%.

At first it was not clear this was the situation, but I think now it is very clear.

I spoke with the person that posted the clip. It was a private copy. The poster had it published privately on YouTube, but accidentally made it public for a brief time. The poster had promised not to share the clip, so they quickly took it back down. Bob's people were not involved.

Glad I didn't miss my chance to see it. Very entertaining, even though there are a lot of annoying audience members comments that are as loud of not louder than Bob.

TheBobDylanFanClub, you always think ahead in your investigating, thanks.

smoke, thanks i double down in thanks for posting that beautiful song
and for the fine Elvis nod from Bob
coming right before Bob's mention of the Blackwood Brothers, one of Elvis' favorites

the world needs a pointedly spirit-filled song list now
and maybe after the resonance of the Sinatra work it is time.
Bob always thinks ahead, he'll know best whatever he chooses.

i just loved the Catskill timing as much as the scriptural tone of the whole thing but hey, not to kvell about our hero.

Quote:
Critics have said that I've made a career out of confounding expectations. Really? Because that's all I do? That's how I think about it. Confounding expectations. Like I stay up late at night thinking about how to do it. "What do you do for a living, man?" "Oh, I confound expectations." You're going to get a job, the man says, "What do you do?" "Oh, confound expectations. And the man says, "Well, we already have that spot filled. Call us back. Or don't call us, we'll call you." Confounding expectations. I don't even know what that means or who has time for it.

"Why me, Lord? My work confounds them obviously, but I really don't know how I do it."

The Blackwood Bros. have been talking to me about making a record together. That might confound expectations, but it shouldn't. Of course it would be a gospel album. I don't think it would be anything out of the ordinary for me. Not a bit. One of the songs I'm thinking about singing is "Stand By Me" with the Blackwood Brothers. Not "Stand By Me" the pop song. No. The real "Stand By Me."

Bob, MusiCares 2015

Given ERs unusual web sherrif esque takedown I thought it had come from bobs people. I too am so glad ive seen it in full. Its ashame its become the elephant in the forums though.
