U.S. Fall Tour continues!

Bob Dylan and His Band

El Paso, Texas
Abraham Chavez Theatre

19 October 2016, Wednesday

The 52nd Show of the 2016 Never Ending Tour.

Capacity: 2,500
Showtime: 8:00 pm

"Nighttime would find me in Rosa's cantina.."

---
Nobel Prize winner Dylan heads to El Paso

El Paso, Texas, USA – The music world let out a collective, "Finally!," on Thursday as the iconic singer-songwriter and "Voice of a Generation," Bob Dylan was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature on Thursday.

Dylan is one of my all-time favorite artists, perhaps only beaten out by the late-great Prince. I could go on and on as to why he deserved this award, and deserved it for a long time before today, but it wouldn't be as well said as this piece in the New York Times today.

I will say that of all the rock legends who have been called "poets," (Jim Morrisson? Seriously?) none is more deserving of the title as Dylan.

It's not everyday you get to see a Nobel Prize winner in person, especially in El Paso. Wednesday we will get that chance as Dylan will perform at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Abraham Chavez Theatre.

While his live performances can range from outstanding to perplexing, it's always intriguing to see what he has up his sleeve.

Funny, in the land of ZZ Top. Maybe the boys will visit (didn't check their tour plans).
(Edit: nope ZZ is in Alabama & heading to Mississippi the next night,ha)

Remembered when Bob opened with ZZ's 'My Head's in Mississippi' 3 times in 1990.
Oxford Oct 25th, Nashville 27th & DeKalb Nov 6th.

http://bobdylan.com/setlists/?id_song=27426

Not sure about ever hearing a Bob recording of those though. I wanna.

ZZ's original version: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0968f0VWvd8

Gotta Serve Somebody
Oxford Town
Mr. Tambourine Man
Barbara Allen

Last time he played in El Paso:

Don Haskins Center
University Of Texas El Paso
El Paso, Texas
12 April 2006

1. Maggie's Farm
2. She Belongs To Me
3. Lonesome Day Blues
4. Queen Jane Approximately
5. 'Til I Fell In Love With You
6. It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)
7. Don't Think Twice, It's All Right
8. Highway 61 Revisited
9. Just Like A Woman
10. Honest With Me
11. Boots Of Spanish Leather
12. High Water (For Charley Patton)

13. Like A Rolling Stone
14. All Along The Watchtower

Now, I'm pretty sure this is right, the last time being 10 years ago now - this upcoming show will be only the third time he's played El Paso, the first show having been in 1978. This was the leg that infamously introduced the circus organ sound, and was by-and-large pretty static setlist wise.

Will be flashing urgently if the number in El Paso is 4 or more.

Has Dylan ever played Bird on a Wire?
That would be a smash

Probably another night for staying up late in the UK- all because of things in the USA.
A possible live set list and the final presidential debate .

One, maybe , is more or less predictable, and for the other there is sense almost anything could happen.

Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be a Fibonacci sequence of Sinatra tunes, as it stands currently, else the next show will feature 5, followed by 8!

Which would mean 21 Sinatra tunes in the Tulsa show. (sirens scream in the distance)

If this Fibonacci sequence is true, then I hope that he has brought back the intermission by the show in Fort Lauderdale, which will feature 514229 Sinatra songs.

Between this, the Cubs game, and the last debate, tonight could be a very unpredictable night

It's the weekend of Fall in Chicago, and I'm sitting on the rooftop of my favorite bar in Chicago, besides a campfire listening to lesbians on a date, which is one floor above my favorite record store in Chicago, and I have Willie, Jerry, and Kingston Trio in tow while sipping on a tasty porter. Frankly the turnout of any of these events couldn't phase me one bit!

But I would be tickled if another standard sneaks into the KindofSet.
