So wonderful that some x casino will pay a ridiculous fee for a bob dylan trophy, and that Rolling Stone advertises the whole mess for free.

The latest on Bobgate...

I'm glad I live within driving distance. Maybe I'll get to caress the peening marks on his groove radius.

According to a press release, the 26-foot by 15-foot iron archway, welded by Dylan himself, will serve as a “portal” to the billion dollar resort.

Nice picture.

My company manufactured some of the building materials for this project. So Bob and I are colleagues and collaborators.

I remember reading that he gave a gate to Paul Simon. This was probably payback for stealing the refrain of Scarborough Fair for one of his songs - what was it? Girl from the North country?

If my memory serves me well, Paul said in a 2011 press conference that Bob presented it as a gift to Paul's wife.

He was also said to have offered Jack White some gates for his Nashville home. It's not known whether Jack took him up on that offer.

Jack would be a damned fool if he turned that down.

For the casino, not the gate.... It's a big project 1.3 billion dollars so there are lots of "collaborators"...

I seriously did not think how big a tease that was. Ha!

I find it shocking the Dylan is allowed to present this as art when Dylan didn't create any of the pieces which are stuck together to make the gate.
Ha! But artistic disciplines all have their own conventions. Bob really did seem to be way over the line with his Asia Series.

You might be confusing me for someone else, Chest.
A lot of the information on this is upcycled from 2013, or prior, just sayin'.

Edit: oh shit, this ended up in Poet/Painter!

Can we leave that question up to the traditions of the community of people who do this kind of work? There imo is zero suggestion of non-originality here (it's all in the provenance of the items in the fence) but at least since the Asia Series and the way it stepped on well developed conventions, Bob is inviting us to evaluate his art on the originality to theft axis, as I'm sure Mr Warmuth would agree.

Years after the fact Macleans Magazine got roasted for an exposé it did on a sculptor. They framed it as besmurching the poor man's character to assign elements of his plan to his team to execute. Eventually this was all debunked. So on that basis I assume there is no controversy looming here.

The next natural move for him would be to combine his religiosity with the ironwork hobby and start making objects for the church.

And ER could help him out with that - there's a few massive bellends hanging around here he could use.

Praise be to the recently and dearly 'departed'. This was a very nicely welded gate slammed in the face of some who richly deserved it

If we are to think this is, in fact, Dylan's knee, here's something for the self-welding people...
