Its pretty terrible, but with Letterman's overblown introduction and the Legendary backup band, Dylan's lackluster performance almost works as the punchline to a slightly overlong joke.

Charming? LOL that's one way to take it.

Everyone on the stage cares so much more than Bob. When I watch this I see Bob sagging under the heaps of praise and adulation. I can imagine in his mind he is burdened by the reverence and sometimes just wants to be considered one of "us" instead of the mythological creature known as "Bob Dylan."

This video is much better and has the complete introduction: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isFYn9cBAmo

LOL!

A good one. Thank you for posting.

The 1975 music is so legendary especially when you get to see it like this.

Scarlet Rivera and Bob Dylan were almost magical in their synergy together.

A wonderful You're A Big Girl Now (5/10/2002) that includes a slight comedic lyric change

Well I know where I can find you
Yes, but I ain't a-gonna look
I'm gonna put my order in with the cook
And hang my coat up on the hook

I just realised the attention to detail that was still a significant part of his stagecraft in 1965, even extended to changing an American 'okay' to a British 'alright' in the line 'alright I've had enough, what else can you show me'.

Never noticed that before.

(Correct me if I'm wrong older Brits, but 'okay' would still have been received somewhat negatively by British ears in the mid Sixties.)

Too young to remember , but feel pretty sure OK didn;t take over from alright until much later, though even now they are interchangeble , and you just made me wonder why sometimes i say alright and sometimes OK. 'It's fine ' is another variant.
As for the song , probably 'it's Ok Ma ....' wouldn't have worked so well.

I think the version is pretty terrible, but he seems to be having a lot of fun.
