Does anyone own this page of the NY Times, and if so, is the BOTT notebook readable? And if so, can you provide close-up photo of that section of the page? Thank you.

And I'm still on the road, heading for another joint
We always did feel the same, we just saw it from

you thought I was the silent type
we were riding past the [cemetary?]

she lit a burner on the stove
She offered me her pipe
Thought you'd never say hello she said you look like

Some writings by an Italian poet from the 13th century
And every one of them poems rang true

And - every word of it rang true, and glowed like burning coal
Pouring out from every page, like it was

Like me and you

Later on when the crowd and I's about to do the same
She was standing there by the back of my chair
Said to me whats up now
I made a joke, she didnt laugh but studied face
Admit I was a little uneasy

No kidding, I'm floored. It's as exacting as John Hammond claimed (he'd seen the notebooks and considered Dylan wildly ambitious).

With all the substitutions how does he finally finish? He'll keep a small army busy explicating and tracing song evolution.

A letter from Dylan, 1980:

Dear Steve -
We are up in Toronto singing and playing for
about 3000 people a night in a downtown theatre -
the Spirit of the Lord is calling people here in this
beautiful and clean city but they are more interested
in lining up for Apocalypse Now than to be baptized and
filled with the Holy Ghost -
Wanna thank you for that Bible as it is helpful
in discerning a few phrases from and shedding more light
on what the King James version reads -
God will lift up your heart as you begin to
realize that "...He their Christ has reconsiled men
unto Himself" (II Corinthians) You are in basic training and
boot camp and I thank God you are and your commitment
runs deep and you will be used to minister and break
the hold of darkness on those you become face to face with -
"Study to show thyself approval"
You will be strong on the Lord and seeing that
looks are deceiving, you will work miracles that way -
He has called you to be a saint and your responsibility is
to Him and Him alone -
Be praying and not look back no more - press
on toward what is ahead - I send love to you and I will
pray for strength and more strength for ya - always
In the name of Jesus Christ
Son of God, manifest in the flesh
Bob Dylan

Can someone identify the quote from II Corinthians, please?

something going on in my own spirit gave me the idea to look up things my favorite star, Bob, may have gone through, after reading that great note he wrote, that you shared right up there, above this post. (thanks) Here's what I put in a Google search line: "who or what got bob dylan off track after he was saved?"

I know that's generally not somebody else's business about any of us-On the other hand, sometimes we just look for everything about different stuff, not just his- or things like what he wrote up there, and some of his spiritual music really can be affecting, and a person can try to receive the words, or the meanings into their own thoughts, or life.

So, not having read most All the things most fans do, I don't know if he ever really swerved from the Faith he loved very much. That happened to me, and that kind of Faith can be so important and meaningful, yet people can still get hurt when they fall sideways or backward, sometimes as a different way to try and deal with their lives, on their own.

So maybe he did. Maybe so many people wanted to pull him a certain way that if something managed to hurt him to the core, he let go- to try and be ok like that. Though maybe he was able to, at another later time, communicate again in the ways he had at first. Because Believers learn early what great ways God can be like in their lives, but then, for example, sometimes a Believer can get waysided into feeling uncared for by their God in the ways they they thought they knew all the answers to-and disasters they thought He would fix.

So, here's a Beautiful article found after what I put in that Google search line-I don't think it was shared on this site. Written for Krista Tippett's site called "On Being" who seems really wonderful in many ways in her life, (a Peabody Award-winning broadcaster and New York Times bestselling author-She was invited to receive a White House award too!). The writer is Mitch Bogen- He holds a masters degree in theology from Harvard Divinity School, and seems to be also a Bob fan. :) It's written April 16th, this year.

It's called "Bob Dylan: Old Testament Language, Beat Poetics, and a Theology of Service".

All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:18

Thank you (and also thanks raging_glory).

I must thus correct my transcript of the letter. The part I read as "...He their Christ" should actually read "...He thru Christ."

"All Along The Watchtower"

All along the watchtower princess
kept the view - while all
the other women came and
went - barefoot servants
too... outside in the distance
a wild cat did growl
two riders were approaching
the wind began to
howl

So it was princess, not "princes" all this time?

Interesting!
But I think the intented meaning in the released version is "princes", because he changed "the other" before women to "all the".

I'd like to see the letter Bob just sent to the Nobel committee explaining why he can't attend the festivities. If signed, it would be a very valuable item and perhaps be worth more than the prize money.

I read years ago that Picasso used to sign his name for free groceries etc. Does Bob?
