Nice little challenge:

What do you think are Dylan's most poetic short string of words, limited to, let's say, a handful of words?

I love: "that silver, singin' river" from Tomorrow is a Long Time and "you who philosophize disgrace" from The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll.

raging glory

curfew gull it glides

ghost of 'lectricity howls in the bones of her face

'neath the cypress tree while the springtime turned

sat stone faced while the building burned

napoleon in rags

Great thread!

"Of war and peace the truth just twists
Its curfew gull just glides
Upon four-legged forest clouds
The cowboy angel rides"

serious:
Darkness at the break of noon
Shadows even the silver spoon
The handmade blade, the child’s balloon
Eclipses both the sun and moon

Einstein "reciting the alphabet" (i.e. E= mc squared etc) is just the most elegant put-down going.

- but enough about me, back to the thread topic.

When they tried to strangle Larry, Joey almost hit the roof.
He went out that night to seek revenge, thinkin' he was bulletproof.
