Senor is an awesome song, my favourite one from that record.

Willie Nelson also did an awesome version of it. It's on the soundtrack to "I'm Not There".

Bob did an amazing 5 night residency in 2005 in Los Angeles at the Pantages Theater of which I was lucky
enough to attend three of...
He had just changed the lineup again after Freddy Koella moved on and Denny Freeman was added.
Though he came to be much derided, in the beginning Bob gave Denny free rein to deliver some gorgeous solos that
I'll never forget honestly...
To add to the flavor of this new band, Bob had onboard the amazing violinist Elana Fremerman from Hot Club of Cowtown to guest,
She stood center stage for all to ogle at:)

Of all three nights I attended, this song stood out as being one of the highest points of the week for me:
Bob dives in without any preparation and what follows is a slow-burning and musically realized version of Senor, complete with weeping violin, a stellar guitar solo, a weird & slightly terrifying vocal delivery, and a harp solo that brought the house to its feet with applause....
an unforgettable performance...

Sure, he does a decent Senor. And even a better Jack-a-Roe, but the best Senor is done by the Senor hisself. The only question is: What performance surpasses the others (forget 78, let's say of all time, then). I'm leaning towards Genuine Real Live 1984 and/or Italy 1998.

Besides being my favorite Dylan song when I am at the laundromat, I would love to hear Neil Young w/ Crazy Horse cover it. The song has always seemed like one that would be great for a garage band that just needed a tune and some lyrics to jam to for a really long time, and Neil w/ Crazy Horse fits that bill better than anyone.

I don't know which is better, but I love both Seattle & Charlotte from '78. Mind you, both are very different vocally from the Street-Legal version, but the passion in Bob's singing is infectious, and that huge band just rips through the instrumental sections. Can't go wrong with either one of those.

A real corker of a performance is this one from 1998.
Bob sings the holy hell out of this song and sounds like a man possessed by the ghost of this song...
It's an appropriately melancholy and desperate vocal offering that's really haunting.

It was interesting reading back and getting caught up in that
'fake song' saga. Ive nothing to add or detract, it amused me
for 5 minutes.
Street Legal was the album i first heard, and has been my
favourite record by Dylan ever since.

In that song, he meets an angel and he, like, goes on this ride with him. I have always imagined it is the angel of death.

Journalist: The full name of the song is "Señor (Tales of Yankee Power)." Does that help explain?

As one would expect, Bono gets it completely wrong.

There is no mention of an angel of any kind in the song.

Senor is Spanish for 'Lord'.

The song's last verse speaks of over-turning tables.

There are references throughout Street-Legal of what is about to happen, such as 'a long-distance train'.

The next album was Slow Train Coming.

How stupid does Bono have to be to think that the song is some voodoo about an 'angel of death'? Oh, God, spare me from that little twerp.
