I have no idea if this has been asked before, and I know it is a trivial question, but what are your favourite and least favourite Bob album covers.

My favourite is Desire
the one I hate is Down in the grove

I know shot of love is appalling as well, but I picked Down in the groove, because it seems to me that it has a sort of "F@*# You, I don't give a monkeys", attitude about it.

Most unintentionally hilarious covers: Under The Red Sky, wherein Bob takes a dump in the desert, closely followed by the We-Just-Slapped-This-Together-Between-Lines WTF*ckery that is Empire Burlesque. Yes Bob, it really is hip to be square.

Most prophetic cover: Shadows In The Night, where Bob is seen through cell bars, reflecting ruefully on his criminal record.

Best condom advert: Tempest

Best one-two combo: Blood On The Tracks / Desire, with Bob looking backwards and forwards in monochrome and technicolour

Coolest: Basement Tapes, Blonde On Blonde. So hip they're square.

Best selective camera angle and airbrushing: Unplugged

Most Drunk: Good As I Been To You

Most Looking Like Sigourney Weaver: Hard Rain

Most Creepy Smile: New Morning

World Gone Wrong is best. Nothing else is even close.

right now the one that i'm worried about is Shadows in the Night.
Full Moon and Empty Arms graphics were much better.

my favorite varies among H61, WGW, and Knocked Out Loaded.

The best is surely Bringing it all Back Home! - And I quite like the cover of Down in the Groove. Oh and Shot of Love.

Worst, maybe Empire Burlesque - those shoulder pads, Bobby!

And Hoss, I just got shushed in the library for laughing at the Sigourney Weaver comment!

For me the worst is Good as I been to You, by far. Saved is close.

The best... I don't know. There are plenty I like: The freewhelin', Bringing it all back home, Highway 61, Blonde on blonde, Desire, Street-legal, Slow train coming, Oh mercy, Modern times, Together through life...

It is impossible to try to judge which is the best or worst album cover because it's all relative.

In fact, I would go as far as to say that it is all down to subjective relativity, and for that reason, cannot, per se, be judged.

Relativity, albeit, subjective relativity is infinite... infinite in a overtly paradoxical way, thus rendering it non-judgeable.

I find it hilarious that anyone believes that they have the power to pass judgement on a album cover.

I have a hard time narrowing it down to just one. But my favorite album covers of Bob's are: Highway 61, The Basement Tapes (the old release), Hard Rain, and Bootleg Series 5

Worst: Empire Burlesque (but funny to me because it's so cheesy), Good As I Been to You, Dylan '73

Fair point, I did misname the post  , but in my original Post I asked for your favourite (and least favourite) cover, not the best cover.

Best is JWH. Easy choice every time this question comes up.

Worst is probably SOL. Looks like a greeting card with a wad of gum stuck to it.

i actually really like the cover of Dylan '73! in fact (and i know that i'm in the minority here) i listened to it again (from the box set-remastered) a couple of nights ago and thoroughly enjoyed it...

best - Blood On The Tracks
worst - Shot Of Love

There is no best, as you could throw a dart at any album in the 60's and win so long as you didn't hit Another Side. As to worst, we have a clear "winner" in Good As I Been To You, which looks like a hatchet Photoshop job.

I'm very attached to any smiling Dylan cover and of the 5 60s smiles the most Mona Lisa-esque is on the first album.
The scowl with the least welcome is Hard Rain

He's not scowling on the Hard Rain album cover. He just has a blank expression as he looks into the camera. It's neither negative nor positive.

I'm very attached to any smiling Dylan cover..

That's why I like Nashville Skyline so much.
Friendly, sly & a little bit creepy
(The kind of feeling I have about Sign on the cross.)
