He's a talent, no question about it. But, Dylan and Duke aren't a good fit.

Exactly. Perhaps they are in the studio (Time Out of Mind), but even there, I think, there was tension.

As an aside, does anyone have a link to the video where Bob rests his hands on the piano during Duke's solo? I've sifted through the thread, but can't seem to find it. Pretty sure it happened on multiple occasions too.

Dylan starts acting miffed around 12 minutes in. It's hard to watch, Dukes playing drives me nuts. Sexton should stay in Bobs band for the duration of Bobs touring days.

If anyone is interested, on Duke's facebook page somebody wrote (commenting on the Visions Of Johanna link mentioned above)

"I sure wish things would have worked itself through. I don't want to know what went down."

to which Duke replied,

"No you don't Stretch. Let's just say........no not worth the agro..."

Whatever happened, clearly Duke doesn't feel great about it

if you ever want to see an singer/bandleader/artist 'miffed' you had to see and hear ray charles perform. he excoriated his guys night after night….and if you were sitting up front it was funny as hell.

And he can remove anything he's posted whenever he wants. Jealous pig? Bitch? Unprofessional? Get off your high horse. I don't get why people who obviously don't like the guy would put so much effort into scouring his FB page for heresy.

The guy asked for my friendship on FB. I don't have to look for this garbage when it's right in front of me. I don't dislike the guy, just seems odd he's so passive aggressive with this situation. It's obvious he's got issues with the whole deal.

Go Steelers.

I see. What can I say, break-ups are tough.

I saw Geoff Muldaur & Jim Kweskin in 2012. At one point in the show, they were reminiscing about various artists they knew or worked with. When Muldaur said Ray Charles's name, Kweksin just shook his head & said, "Ray Charles was a bastard."

From that 12 min mark, it's not hard to understand Bob's miffed-mess. The playing is pretty much generic nothingness. Compare that to Sexton's inventiveness and sensitivity, and be glad Charlie got back on board.

That's from the Buffalo show on Apr. 5, '13.

The comment that Milkcow posted cracked me up.

His general thrust too. Duke's solos throughout the shows, I thought, were pretty boring. Sexton coming back was a real blessing (though I wouldn't shake a stick at a Larry Campbell/Sexton duo again). I didn't see any of those shows, but to quote a friend of mine, they were "a real barn-burner."

well If somebodys got access to the Duke on FB why not post the video and ask him what happened there (12 min mark situation)??
Would be interesting to hear his side of the story...

Sidenote: notice how bad Bobs voice is in this clip compared to the last few tours.

Please don't do that, just let it go.

Indeed. Only Grumpy Cat could have delivered the line "it was a lot of fun" with less 'fun' implied.

Wow, I almost completely forgot about that video^. So awkward. I don't know what the hell Duke thought he was doing. Of course the guys in the band would've been sure to let Duke know that his eyes should always be on Bob the bandleader. Thank God that Charlie came back to save the day.

I like these sorts of things. Easy to watch. Adds a little spice and folklore.

Dylan is so cool when he stands up and just leans over glaring at Duke.
I'm not sure that Duke quite got it until Dylan walked over and commiserated with Donny.
Maybe not even then.

Seems like so long ago...cheers again to whoever captured this on vid.

He's played Odense a couple of times at the Blues Fest.
