How long does the edit button still appear after you post a message?

(I thought there was no time limit....But I see I can't edit a post I made just some hours ago....and I checked old posts and the edit button is actually not there.....)
So what's the time limit to edit a post?

Thanks!!!

If you need a minor edit and the time has elapsed, contact a moderator and we may be able to do it for you. Substantial content will not be edited if there have been responses to the topic or a lot of time has elapsed.

An 'edit button' with a 30 minute scope range of activeness is very impressive. That sort of editness technology is nothing short of remarkable... it's cutting edge as far as editing buttons go... stunning.

Where next with edit buttons?... dare we dream of the 'one hour' active editing button?

I would like to see the edit technology extending into other areas of life, especially conversations between me and my girlfriend. Even a ten second edit function would be most helpful.

it's like a large teddy bear, but shaved and with udders - plus they sometimes talk. The best kind come with a trust fund.
