We may be nearing an anniversary, and I for one would like to make it as festive as possible, which could require some planning.

That is a good question. A quick check of members yields this:

the first person to join Expecting Rain was Karl Erik, Thursday, October 28, 2004. Next fall I say we all meet at smoke's house!

memberlist.php?mode=&sk=c&sd=a

I thought is was older than that though...

There's a thread about the forum with (I think) that date.

The site itself is older...at least August 1994 according to the archives.

But everyone's welcome at my place anyway!

That sounds about right. Clinton was elected in '92. Probably took a couple years for Al Gore to invent the internet.

Actually I would love it if Karl would take a moment and post a brief history of ER and it's evolution.

His trials and tribulations in running it going on 20 years!!

Maybe make it a sticky in OT.

Come on Karl, your public needs to know!

that last bit might scare the bazeeges out of him! :P

If we pool our money I wonder if we could book Dylan for a private gig at the Erik residence.

Yes, thanks. I knew it was old but had no idea it was one if the first websites in the world. Amazing the fatefulness of some decisions we make...I can't thank you enough for all your hard work over the years.

Yes Karl, you may sit in your little igloo over there in Norland sometimes wondering if it's all worth it.

There are many of us that greatly value this place!!

Thanks.

Does no one else care that thickboy's charming impression of a swede convinced Bob Dylan to debut a tempest song in Karl Erik's honor?

The question referred to the website, so the anniversary stands.

Also, how about thickboy!?!?

Somehow I missed this entire thread (I can't read them anymore at work  ) - but I definitely wanted to thank Karl Erik for posting this history of ER and also to thank him once again for the best Dylan website on the internet. :D :D :D
