Interesting that Stu is back on electric for some songs unlike the all acoustic all the time first leg.

If Bob is back to thinking that he can sing over 2 electric guitars, this tour will go to hell in a hurry.

In fact, reviews of the last 2 nights on Bob Links aren't very favorable at all. Seems Bob needs to worry more about his own performance, less about Duke's.

You do have to be logged into a Facebook account. I had the same confusion at first.

I just hope he'll be on Bob's next album! He's a great guitarist!

The happy quote I posted from april could be in direct correlation to how his "boss" is treating him now. Seemed like he really enjoyed playing with Bob then. Maybe he's just bipolar.

Like this:
Bob offers awesome displays of his soul in fantastic art form. Lately he
has been producing some the most beautiful blues, mellow and exciting at
the same time. The band has played wonderfully, surrounding him with fresh
ingredients to add to each nights entries. You must experience the
richness of Duke’s guitar layered throughout the set list in just the
right helpings to drive the music into some of the most fantastic, fun
journeys you’ll ever take….sit back…really sit back and enjoy these
shows…they’re gifts from Bob….except them graciously….and have
fun.

?????????????????????????????????????

By my count, as of this moment, there are 2 negative and 3 positive reviews of the summer tour posted...although it's worth noting that the other 2 positives are not wildly positive, but they were certainly happy with the shows...also worth mentioning that all of them noted how much Duke is adding to the sound.

Often Bob's voice is pretty good on opening night of any tour. I was talking about the last 2 nights, not the last 3. I didn't scroll all the way down to see the review you've quoted, so I admit I missed it. But for the last 2 nights, there are 2 unfavorable, 1 favorable.

I thought Duke did well at the Atlanta show, as did Bob. I wondered how serious Bob was about Duke's playing when he kept looking over and trying to play the harp. I'm sure that Bob is a tough guy to play with, but he's not beyond having a little fun while he's out there. Regardless, I guess we'll find out soon enough. Can't wait to see how the next few shows go.

Maybe Duke doesn't want to take any sh*t from Bob and is standing up to him. It worked for Stu when he refused to play/left the stage in 2006. Now, if Bob was doing really stellar stuff up there, perhaps a front-rank player like Duke would be more willing to roll with the punches. But, let's face it, that isn't the case. Respect, even reverence for the man, yes. But total submission? Let's not forget, these guys that play with Bob are not like the diehard fans, and won't just swallow anything. You'd expect them to have a little self-respect.

Remember now, Duke was not permanent; Charlie was just busy, but looks to be not quite so anymore

John Jackson is still in Nashville and I don't see that he's booked tonight.

Freddy Koella, where art thou?

BTW, I may be in the minority but I was not impressed with Duke's guitar playing last night - at all. It felt clunky and more pedestrian than I was expecting - not fluid, to my ears anyway.

And, I did think Bob overreacted a bit to Duke stepping on his toes in "Simple Twist Of Fate." I think the problem is that Bob's vocal powers are so diminished - and he plays no guitar, and plunks on piano these days - that he feels like any intrusion into a song's flow (overlapping solos, interruptions, etc) makes him look foolish. In other words, I think it's Bob's "live performance insecurity" at the moment that's the issue more than Duke's mistakes.

Easy for me to say though... even if Bob is feeling a bit insecure in his live performance powers these days, it's all better than I could do. He's still the man and I'm a fan!
