Buffalo, New York, USA - Bob Dylan Back On The Road In April

04:01 PM Wednesday 2/27/13
Bob Dylan has loaded up his April calendar with more than a dozen U.S. gigs featuring support from Dawes. The tour is headed to New York, Massachusetts, Maine, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan.

It sounds like Dawes couldn’t wait to spill the beans about the excursion. Earlier today Los Angeles-based rockers tweeted, “Alright … we can finally announce it. We’re opening for Bob Dylan for this next tour.”

But first Dawes has lined up several appearances at SXSW in March and a tour of independent record stores across the U.S. March 18 through April 2. The band will be playing tunes from its upcoming third full-length. Due out April 9 on Hub Records, Stories Don’t End marks Dawes’ first release on its own label. You can catch the group performing the first single “From A Window Seat” on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” May 16.

Dylan’s tour begins April 5 in Buffalo, N.Y. Check out the routing below.

April 5 – Buffalo, N.Y., SUNY Buffalo Alumni Arena
April 6 – Amherst, Mass., Mullins Center
April 8 – Kingston, R.I., Ryan Center
April 9 – Lowell, Mass., Tsongas Center At UMass Lowell
April 10 – Lewiston, Maine, Androscoggin Bank Colisee
April 12 – Newark, Del., Bob Carpenter Center
April 13 – California, Pa., California University
April 14 – Ithaca, N.Y., Barton Hall
April 16 – Richmond, Va., Landmark Theater
April 18 – Bethlehem, Pa., Stabler Arena
April 19 – Akron, Ohio, E.J. Thomas Hall
April 20 – Kalamazoo, Mich., Wings Stadium
April 21 – Bowling Green, Ohio, Bowling Green State University

Convenient if your class is in the pub, William.

Free Bob.

On April 5, the Student Association will host legendary musician Bob Dylan at Alumni Arena.

According to SA, the show is not or related to Spring Fest, which is scheduled for April 14, but it is still an SA event paid for by the mandatory student activity fee.

Tickets for students will be available the day of the show and will be free for the first 4,500 undergraduates who present their UB cards at the door. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

“In the past when we’ve tried to do advance tickets for these types of shows, especially free advance tickets, [they] would often end up online for sale,” said SA Entertainment Coordinator Marc Rosenblitt. “We want to make sure we can maximize the amount of people that are in [Alumni Arena] for the show. We’re limited to 6,500 tickets, not 6,500 people.”

According to Rosenblitt, the remaining 2,000 tickets will be on sale as soon as next week. For one week only, these tickets will be available for online purchase to UB staff and undergraduate and graduate students for $49.50 before they go on sale to the general public.

“We always try to have variety in our stuff,” Rosenblitt said. “In the last couple of years, we’ve been very heavy on the hip-hop, but we try to spice it up as often as we can. Dylan’s people actually approached us as a possible location [for his tour].”

Alumni Arena will be Dylan’s first stop on his upcoming tour with opening act, Dawes, from Los Angeles. Dawes is scheduled to take the stage at 7:30 p.m. on April 5, before Dylan comes on at 8:30 p.m.

For further information, students can contact Rosenblitt or Ned Semoff, SA Communication Director.

That will make getting a cheap or free ticket at the door one of the easiest circumstances yet.

The last group we had in Alumni was The Fray.

They're bringing better talent this year...

UB students and faculty get first shot at tickets in person at Alumni.

To be honest though, I don't think they're really checking who is who.

That's worth a few extra dark brewskies per show Troubs.

April's citizen of the month award goes to SUNY professor Dr. Peter Q. Pfordresher, for his dedicated work to the field of music, psychology, and his early insightful attention directed towards this engaging topic of study.

http://www.psychology.buffalo.edu/direc ... ordresher/
Summary of Research Interests:

I am interested in the way in which the mind organizes sequences of events in real time during production and perception. I am particularly interested in musical behaviors and the degree to which music shares cognitive and neural resources with other sequential behaviors such as language. Specific research programs include the way in which people use the sounds they create (auditory feedback) to maintain fluency in production, individual differences in the vocal imitation of pitch, the role of memory retrieval in production, and the way in which sequence structure guides the perception of sequences.

Got 2 tickets online at about 9:20 a.m., after several failed attempts. General admission.
I don't believe Ticketmaster was ready at 9 a.m.
At 10:30 a.m., tickets were still available.
$6 service charge per ticket, though.

GA is where it's at. Good job, assuming that means the floor.
