I was wondering if anyone could tell me what albums have been remastered?

If it's easier to say which albums have not been remastered I can deduce the obvious haha

I was also wondering if anyone has scans of the Dylan 2007 Deluxe cd sleeves? I know most of you are the wrong people to ask but there has to be someone who made the purchase. I just want the scans for my ipod.

Thanks folks. :D

Some albums have been remastered on more than one occasion since the first CD versions were released more than 20 years ago ("Blonde On Blonde" at least three times, "Highway 61 Revisited" at least twice).
In 2003, released a bunch of remastered Dylan albums on hybrid SACD/CD discs. They were later replaced by CD versions without the SACD layer (which makes no difference if you don't have an SACD player). Since then, a few other albums have been remastered and released (CD only).
The following albums have been remastered and rereleased since 2003 (I may have missed one or two). AFAIK, they all remain in print and should be easy to find.

"Bob Dylan" (CD)
"The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan" (SACD/CD)
"The Times They Are A-Changin'" (CD)
"Another Side Of Bob Dylan" (SACD/CD)
"Bringing It All Back Home" (SACD/CD)
"Highway 61 Revisited" (SACD/CD)
"Blonde On Blonde" (SACD/CD)
"John Wesley Harding" (SACD/CD)
"Nashville Skyline" (SACD/CD)
"New Morning" (CD)
"Planet Waves" (SACD/CD)
"Before The Flood" (CD)
"Blood On The Tracks" (SACD/CD)
"The Basement Tapes" (CD)
"Desire" (SACD/CD)
"Street-Legal" (SACD/CD)
"Slow Train Coming" (SACD/CD)
"Infidels" (SACD/CD)
"Dylan & The Dead" (CD)
"Oh Mercy" (SACD/CD)

There are also remastered versions of several compilations.

Has anyone seen if the batch of three that were put out in 2009 (New Monrning, Before the Flood, Basement Tapes) are being released in jewel cases yet?

I have seen a jewel case version of the remastered "New Morning". Not sure about the other two. I bought the digipacks when they were released.

Was it online or in a store where you saw New Morning remstered in a jewel case?

In a store in Sweden, so it is at least available there in a jewel case. IIRC, it had a sticker on it that identified it as the recent remaster. They also had the digipack.

I bought the remastered Before the Flood and Basement Tapes off Amazon.co.uk about a year ago, and they're both jewel-cased.

Resurrecting this thread to add the mighty HARD RAIN to the list. Finally.

Here's a great resource for those wondering which albums have had plastic surgery:

Thanks! I love "Hard Rain," and, although I have numerous remasters, I've always wondered which ones AREN'T remastered. Appears to be only the likely suspects, I guess.

I think I'll wait for the new album, though, before I update my collection.

Where exactly did you find it remastered? I can't find it on Amazon.com but haven't really done an extensive search yet and I would love to hear one of my favorites remastered.

This edition is a new remaster by Steve Berkowitz. Music On Vinyl's Mark Kilnkhamer wrote:

We received high res (remastered) digital masters for "Hard Rain" from Steve
Berkowitz. We made the cut here in Holland and we sent the test pressings
back to Steve for approval. This goes for all our Dylan releases.

Here it is on amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/Hard-Rain-Bob-Dyl ... 796&sr=1-4

Empire Burlesque has not been remastered. The original stereo mixes of Another Side Of Bob Dylan, Bringing It All Back Home, Blonde On Blonde, and Street-Legal have not been remastered. The remastered versions of these albums are remixes from the multi-tracks. In the cases of BIABH and BOB, all cd issues except those in the mono box feature remixes, though not necessarily the same ones. This was supposedly because the stereo masters were in unusable condition. However, it would seem Hoffman and co have located usable stereo masters for the upcoming gold cd of Greatest Hits.

I had thought it was only claimed that the Blonde On Blonde stereo tape was too worn too use.

"We bypassed all GREATEST HITS dub reels and went back to the earliest surviving individual stereo mix reels for each original album the songs came from. In other words it was a real PAIN IN THE BUTT. But a good pain."

personally id save my money.

It seems to read the opposite way to me. Unless you are saying "the earliest surviving individual stereo mix reels for each original album" are something different from the stereo masters? That may be, I suppose, but the point still is that this cd will use all ORIGINAL vintage stereo mixes, not remixes as the remastered albums have.

I'd expect it'd be tonally mellower than the stereo remasters, whatever the source tapes used. Those remasters are quite heavy on the treble.

I'm not buying it, in any case. I don't need more versions of songs that I already have in many copies already. Don't really care how they sound. :)
