Bob Dylan and His Band
Hop Farm Festival
Paddock Wood, England
Saturday, 30 June 2012

Here we go. In several weeks the 17th show of the '2012 Never Ending Tour' will also kick off the European summer wave of Bob shows. Wahooooo! Currently this kick-off is slated to take place at the controversial Hop Farm Festival, unless we get lucky and an earlier show is announced. Surprises have happened before, so it's not out of the question. Keep your fingers crossed for all of our Irish friends out there for an early stop off. Meanwhile, what's going on at Hop? Looks like Patti Smith will be opening up for Bob. Wonder if she'll join him again? Finally, everyone please take the proper precautions as it looks like there's enough rules and regulations to drive fans away from this particular venue. The no-sponsor thing seems cool though. We've had our share of credit cards and banks and soft drinks so far this year. Have fun Hoppers!

From: http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2012/ma ... m-festival
Paddock Wood, ENGLAND - Bob Dylan will make his only UK festival appearance of the summer alongside Peter Gabriel and Suede at the Hop Farm. The 70-year old singer will also be joined on the three-day bill for the festival in Kent by Damien Rice, Primal Scream and Patti Smith and her band...

...Dylan's Never Ending tour, as it is nicknamed, is said to have begun on 7 June 1988 with a gig in Concord, California, and has encompassed 2,394 shows. Dylan previously played the Hop Farm festival in 2010. Joining Dylan will be Gabriel and his band the New Blood Orchestra, and Suede, making their only festival appearance in the UK this summer.

The Hop Farm festival, which was founded five years ago by promoter Vince Power, is an independent event that prides itself on its "no sponsorship, no branding" ethos. Last year's headliners included Prince and Morrissey. This year's concert takes place in Paddock Wood, Kent, on 29-30 June and 1 July.

WHAT NOT TO BRING
We’re pretty chilled here at Hop Farm but we do have to have some rules and regulations to keep everyone safe and sound and the following items may not be brought into the site through the campsite gates:
Glass - no glass is permitted in the campsite or arena
Illegal substances
Portable Laser Equipment and Pens
Unauthorised Professional Film or Video Equipment
Audio Recorders
Air Horns
Spray Cans
Fireworks
Flares
Any item which may reasonably be considered for use as a weapon
Please be advised you may be body searched at the entrance
Persons suspected of carrying items that may be used in an offensive or dangerous manner, or carrying out illegal activities onsite may be searched
Excessive amounts of food, cigarettes and alcohol may be refused entry to the campsite; please only bring enough for personal use
Large camping gas canisters (more than 2.7kg in gas weight) aren’t permitted anywhere (however small camping gas canisters are permitted in the campsite)
All items will be confiscated.
No percussion instruments, drums or bass instruments will be allowed on to the festival site...all your musical areas should be sorted by the pros we’ve booked to play for you!

Your going to need several cases of 6-packs or perhaps a keg. It's still a ways off.

Nuts, yes. Couldn't wait.
Leopard, probably. Although you'd think he'd wanna mix it up by now.
Dirt, would be funny.

This is going to be one of those "live setlist" threads that's going to be 7 pages even before the show starts, right?

Well, let's-a-go.

That's, like, the best setlist ever.
Never change a winning formula
unless you've written more that 500 songs....

I wonder why Ray Davies is not playing on the same day as Dylan this year... Things went down so smoothly last time.

I hope he doesn't wait until the USA to break out his new 14-minute short version of his 'Ballad of the Titanic.'

:D
Ray Davies was a tribute act to himself and came across like an idiot. Bob came on and ripped the place to shreds with one of the best perfomances I've ever seen. That's why I'll be there, he might do it again.

Tragos: any chance of you making it over to some of these shows? I was really hoping Greece would make the schedule!

I had a dream the other night about hop farm — Bob opened with something strange, but I can't remember what it was. I remember thinking that is pretty unusual. Anyway, probably wasn't worth putting that in a post .. haha.
