Most overrated ModBob song

I wanted to add something from TTL, but I don't think anything is on that album is overrated because so few seem to like it. The ones I have listed seem to be loved by many on this site. I'm just not sure why. Though I think all three are overrated I vote Working Man's Blues. Maybe it's the lyric people like so much? I find the singing and melody etc soooo bland and boring. Same with Mississipi, just not quite as much.

If anything all 3 of those songs and indeed most ModBob is underrated by people in general, not necessarily the people on this site.

the premise that there are three songs people seem to like more than you must mean a large population of people are incorrect and this pole will shed light on the reason? double barrel question with a double barrel shot gun...

the reason these songs are great.
-Lyrics (that hold a significant meaning of philosophy, psychology, human experience and thought with a great sense of connection)
-Vocals (that are appropriate for the meaning and the character of the narrator)
-Music (that sets the perfect atmosphere and emotion for the said purpose)
-Melody (all have great melody that doesn't getting boring and still(though long) hold you're attention and goes unpredictable).

All of this would be fine if two of the three songs weren't actually shite on toast.

Cold Irons Bound is a great edgy little blues tune - it has that nagging, mysterious vibe that hints at untold sufferings but doesn't outstay its welcome. Plus Dylan actually sings this one with some passion and power.

The other two are exactly what is wrong with Big Statement ModBob. I'm not surprised most of you divvies love them both. Overblown, pretentious nonsense, pseudo-profundity peddling vehicles for The Brand. Mississippi is clearly the most overrated of the two, but Workingman's Blues is by far the worse song. The good thing about never seeing the man perform again is never having to be in the same room when he does this one 'live'.

CIB is probably the most conventional of the three (at least to my ears). Thus I personally prefer Mississippi and WMB. These two are among ModBob's finest, both musically and lyrically, so I can't see how they can be overrated...

You cannot overrate Mississippi, it's impossible. Listen to any of the fall '11 versions.
Actually, I don't think you can overrate ModBob (can we call him 'Mob' for short?) either.

Personally, I think the title of this thread is a bit misleading. The only great thing about Modern Times is Nettie Moore. Workingman's Blues? Don't make me laugh. It starts with the theme to Cheers and goes downhill from there. Time Out of Mind is a good album, don't get me wrong, but listening to it in its entirety is like downing a box of quaaludes and trying to run a marathon in the snow.
