Bob Dylan and His Band
Ginasio Nilson Nelson
Brasilia, Brazil -- Tuesday, 17 April 2012
Capacity: 16,600

Well, the live set list from Rio was such a, ahhh, ummm, hit(?) that we thought we'd give it another spin for the second show of the '2012 Never Ending Tour' leg in beautiful Brasilia, Brazil! What more could we really ask for? We are hoping for a live feed, but instead, we'll twitter away the hours in an offhand way.

From the ticket distributor:
BRASILIA, BRAZIL - While other musicians have trouble crossing over to a different musical genre, Bob Dylan has helped define numerous musical styles that have drawn crowds on tour dates spanning half a century. During the early 60s, Dylan pioneered folk music that would smirk in the face of establishment and become the voice of a generation. In the latter half of the 60s, Bob Dylan smirked in the face of folk fans by adopting a hard rocking, electric musical style that added a new dimension to rock music. Since the late 80s, the musician has been playing a continuous string of concert dates on his Never Ending Tour.

Don't hurry, if it's the same as yesterday, it'll be enough to be here half an hour after the show ends.

Most likely it will be the same: Same time, same setlist, same complaints from the so-called naysayers, same defences from the fanboys and -girls. :-)

"Brasilia, Brazil - 17 April 2012 - THERE IS A SHOW TONIGHT discussion"

Would be more accurate

I'll be shocked if it's the same set list (above). I think he's only done that once (back-to-back) going back many years. London-Tel Aviv last year.

Apparently there was no encore at Rio, just like the concerts last fall

The bit about leaving the stage to return for an encore everybody knows will be played is a bit stupid anyway. It wasn't more than a smoking break. Maybe it means that Bob has stopped smoking.

Oh, it won't be exactly the same, but I wouldn't be shocked if you had to look twice to notice the changes, with so many slots set in stone. Fingers crossed I'm wrong!

Out of, I believe, 90 shows in 2011 these are the numbers for the Rio set:

1. Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat 49
2. It Ain't Me, Babe (Bob on guitar) 17
3. Things Have Changed 76
4. Tangled Up In Blue (Bob center stage with harp) 72
5. The Levee's Gonna Break 32
6. Tryin' To Get To Heaven 19
7. Beyond Here Lies Nothin' 41
8. Desolation Row 32
9. Summer Days 36
10. Simple Twist Of Fate (Bob on guitar) 47
11. Highway 61 Revisited 88
12. Forgetful Heart (Bob center stage with harp) 28
13. Thunder On The Mountain 83
14. Ballad Of A Thin Man (Bob center stage with harp) 89
15. Like A Rolling Stone 90
16. All Along The Watchtower 79

(Off topic questions: What were the shows that "Thin Man" and "Highway" got dropped in 2011?)

Whenever that happens my heart feels giddy, thinking maybe he's escaped the albatross...but he never does.

Not a tree is sight. This spaceship picked a good place to land. Wonder what's going on inside of it right now?
