Many 70-year-olds just sit in a recliner flicking channels on the remote. I'd say he's doing pretty good!

There is a lot of mistakes on this reporting. Funny mistakes. I hope google translator can help you understand.

Actually, I am not being fair here. I should have said 'most Americans' instead of 'many 70 year olds.'

Yes.
He seems to choose the most "jam friendly" and blues based songs, probably so they won't have to rehearse. The set lists have been incredibly boring for quite a while now. He seems to avoid any song with any resemblance of a melody, while sticking to blues derivates. Could be on account of his "voice", could be he just wants "to jam".

7 twelve bars, indeed. Not exactly what I would want from a Bob Dylan concert, but to each his own..

I wasn't aware he started playing for online setlist readers and tape collectors yet.... just sayin'.

Do you really think the "general public" wants 7 twelve bars in one concert? Especially the likes of Levve, Summer Days etc that most people won't be that familar with? If the general public could decide we would have Mr Tambo, Blowing, Knocking etc etc.

My guess is that either he sees himself as a "real, mean, genuine blues man", or that he realizes that he can't handle melodies anymore on account of his limitations in the vocal departement..

The point is, he doesn't ask the general public. He never has. Did they want him to go electric, big band, religious, Grateful Dead? Part of the Dylan deal is that you don't get to chose, so you can only take it or leave it.

What's more, he doesn't give a shit about the general public.
And he keeps touring the world.
I love this guy!

(how about an official thread for complaining about the setlists       )

Of course he doesn't give a shit. But I, for one, do. And I'm more than a bit tired of the same old pedestrian blues. But if you guys get a kick out of badly played twelve bar blues, be my guest. Who am I to judge. :D

Though I would rather listen to someone who actally can play the blues.

Are you there? Is it a matter of whether or not to get the recording? Just why does it bother you? Honestly, I don't get it.

Happy for you!

I was hoping he'd play not one of these 16 songs in 2012!

Ok, but all of them are overplayed.

Really sorry to say but:

Could it get worse???

voice, phrasing, arrangement, band, etc..................

one of the most terrible renditions of the song since ever!
VERY FAST ENDING! He seemed to like it neither.
By the way: F**** dark stage for LARS. Looks like 1990/91

Please BOB skip at least LARS!

Oh well, for all the complainers: it was the 'warmup' gig if you will. It will get better as the tour progresses. Nice to see "Desolation Row" hit the scene. Looks like this may be a standard throughout the year :)

You could judge negatively on this poor quality video..
OR take it at face value and enjoy it for the glimpse of the concert rather than as an insight to it's quality.....
OR BETTER STILL take the opinion of the person who shot the video, because he was there 8)

Here's the translation:
The video is not very good because it was forbidden to shoot, but it was overwhelming to see the Master and not immortalize this moment. Bob Dylan with his 70 years remains strong, unique and led the audience, which filled the Citibank Hall, delirious.

8)

He's in fine voice as you can see by the video.

This year will only get stronger with performances, sets, etc.

We've seen better renditions of LARS last year, no doubt. The arrangement is quite the same, though, and so is the voice. And, hey, shooting_star_night is definitely right, it was sort of a 'warm up' gig - i mean who knows if there was any rehearsing at all?
