Why July in Spain and france Bob?? I have a obligatory placement during June and July... I hope I'll be able to make the shows because if I'm not, I'll be very very angry during this period. Stupid modern convention!

I actually think this is ridiculous. The LAST to announce the concert dates is Bob Dylans official website. If I'm not mistaken a couple of years ago, they started to sell the tickets to the french concerts even before they were announced at the official website. I mean, can't the touring company do something about this? The problem is that one might actually want to plan where to travel to see some shows.

I've seen shows that were already sold out when they decided to announce them on the official web site...
It would be nice to have all the dates together, but in the end, it's not that important; we find a way, right?

Well, yes alright. I should not whine. I just think that Bob Dylans touring company most likely have a good idea what the plan is. And the fans are the last to know. But I should tell them. Not whine here. If it wasn't for this site I'd really be in the dark! :)

He's supposed to go 400 km from the border and back for one show?? :?
The route of that tour makes less and less sense, from the few dates we have.... really Bob, y u throwing darts at a European map?

Btw, did the promoter say which day of the festival Bob is playing?

Hi JP, good to see you here again. I'm considering Hop Farm, against my better judgment. I want a luxury tipi! I hate camping. A long drive and a tiring weekend.

Stephenoxford will be disgusted with me if I cave in and go after all...

It's easy money, yes, and I guess it pays for some of the smaller shows. I'm totally not complaining. I was wondering anyway if he's going to go back to two-hour shows....

Well, let's look at what's on the table so far:
June 29-July 1? Hop
July:
4 Bonn
12-15? FIB
18 Lyon
20 Bayonne

Seems like an outside chance.

Last time he played the Netherlands in summer was 1998. He could stop over on the way from the UK to Germany, though, but no idea how likely that is.

I'm pretty sure that the FIB throws so much money at Bob that he'll gladly go through that trouble. Guess that would either make a show in south-west France likely or they might as well just fly in and play on rented gear.

As for the routing - Festival tours are like that. Nothing unusual. Let's just hope that he'll do some interesting headline indoor shows on the mondays-wednesdays and doesn't fill all those days with the weeklong-one-act-per-day open airs like the ones mentioned for Bonn and Cortina.

However, all the rumours we have so far point at a secondary market tour, probably in an attempt to avoid the big cities he played last fall and to make sure he'll have all the choices again for 2013 once the new album is out.

Apart from going Pamplona > Vigo in '08, his summer festival touring routes weren't that badly scheduled distance wise, at least in the last ten years or so.

Also, why indoor shows? There are so many nice outdoor venues, and the crowds at the act-per-day festivals aren't much different from the usual Dylan audience.

so Lyon is one of the few non-festival shows so far?.. Guess i'll be hopping on the midnight train from Amsterdam

Still waiting it out to see what announcements come to light. I assume that Dylan's touring company is working out the details/deals for the shows and will present us with a near-complete list any time now

I completely agree, no one cares if it's labeled "festival" or not. If Bob is the only performer, it's a Bob concert ;)
I also prefer indoor venues in general but thinking of the venues in Hamburg or Odense on last year's summer tour for example i can only say they were perfect, way better than those multi-purpose halls. Also Bayonne and Lyon will be really enjoyable places this time.

Nuits de Fourviere (Lyon) is the kind of festival that has one single concert a day.
