I don't know... if he comes to Spain maybe (maybe not) I'll go to see him. But I would hate to hate it. That's why I don't know if I should go.

Now this is awful (for me) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvy_lIf5kzA

but I hear this (white house performance) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2sYIIjS-cQ (min 0:40 - his underwear was making him uncomfortable? )
and I like it

I like this as well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_cRSx1k3eQ

So what should I expect? A bit of all?

Hi topu,

your post seems to indicate that it will be your first Dylan concert, right?

If so, or maybe you had not the opportunity to see him in years, this what I would say to you:

Don't look at too many clips on youtube, the sound is often too bad and therefore can give you a wrong impression of the performance itself.
Go to the concert open minded and don't listen to what others are saying.
Don't read any posts from Bennyboy, especially those who deal with Bob's voice.
Don't carry a list of songs you want to hear with you.
Don't compare the song beeing played with other renditions you have heard or have heard about.
Look at the stage closely and try to catch the interactions.

If you do so, you at least can expect a unique and memorable concert. You cannot expect that it all will be to your deepest satisfaction, but who knows?

Yes, it would be my first Dylan concert. That's the reason why I'd like to see him, because it is a chance I have now and maybe I would enjoy it and if I don't go I would regret it. I've been told that I shouldn't trust the impression I get from youtube clips but things like the first video I posted I think wouldn't improve with a high quality sound (while the last clip I posted sounds good :) )

Thanks for your tips. I think I am going to go, I think I am just trying to gain reasons to go. And in the worst case that I hated it that wouldn't change my enthusiam for what he's done that I like

I also would recommend that you go and make up your own opinion. As well no one knows how long the touring will be going on.
The first show I saw was horrible (at least I thought that at that time) and I was totally disappointed. I couldn't believe it and so I went straight away to the next one - and then I was "saved". :D

When I was in Dublin in 2005 I still didn't listen to Bob but my flatmates went to see a concert. I remember one of them was satisfied but the other was dissapointed, he said something like it was sad to see him so old that he couldn't sing. I bought the newspaper next day and there was a review in it that I didn't even read...

My advice is, see him at least once! I have never regretted going to a Dylan concert. However, let's be honest, nowadays it is just hit-and-miss... performance-wise. Some songs will sound excellent, others won't. And as far as "Tangled Up In Blue" is concerned, forget about it! You will not hear a decent version of this song anymore. He omits half of lyrics which ruins the song pretty much for me.

Having said that — and I cannot stress this enough — there's always at least one moment of pure magic which makes you realize that it was the right decision to go to the show.

Yes, as Bobschool pointed out, free your mind of expectations. Make a day and night of it. Go have a nice dinner beforehand. A nice glass or two of whatever you like and whatever else suits your fancy. Smile and have fun in line, and inside while waiting. And then, try and truly focus for the duration of the event. Forget babbling and talking on until the encore break. Enjoy yourself. After all, it's about you, when you really think about it, not him. Best of shows to you, Topu!

Yeah I think there is a very high chance of him returning to Spain this year.

If the Bayonne rumor is true then I think it's a no brainer to expect some Spanish shows. Bobby loves it there. PLUS, he may need to stop and pick up some new leather boots.

excellently said, usually there are about a half a dozen or so. it is true about tangled... currently, very few of the nostalgic songs get the best treatment during the shows, but there are several songs that are delivered pretty consistently well. but when he plays a personal favorite, well that's just a priceless moment.

it hasn't been mentioned, that a live show, at the right place, with the right sound - nothing passed around in the recording section can replicate that experience. you owe it to yourself to experience it.

tears will be shed. whether of joy of sadness is truly a matter of how strongly you are fixed to your expectations. most of which will be shook up.

More than I can count on two hands and feet, but, to your point, relatively few.
