i've been thinking none stop lately what his setlists are gonna be like, and can't wait to see...

Whats gonna be his opener?

Gonna Change My Way Of Thinking from last year that version is my favourite and it's a good opener too.

I think some good openers for the shows coming up, would be;

Slow Train (the best for his voice and band now!)
Watching the River Flow
Most Likely You'll Go Your Way (And I'll Go Mine)
Jokerman (wish he would do more Infidels stuff, his band would do some great versions of the songs from it, especially this and I And I)

I don't what the best would be but you can bet your bottom dollar it's going to be LSPBH.

Wouldn't it be nice if he opened with a new song, as a gesture of his confidence in his new material. Of course he won't, but it would be nice. If not, I would like a folk tune as an opener like Wait For The Light To Shine and all those from the early 2000s. We won't get that either, I know.

"New Morning" would be nice, but that is never going to happen.

I'm kind of hoping he'll finally cover "why is there a turtle in Myrtle's girdle?"

You'll get good odds on that down at Ladbrokes. You'll also get the same odds on Ding, Dong the Witch is Dead and Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep. They won't be laughing when you walk out of that place a very rich punter.

Don' know about "best" but I know what it will be: A blues number he can sleepwalk through. The first number is nothing but a warm up, usually it doesn't even qualify as music. That said, Gonna Change My Way Of Thinking was not bad.

Leopard Skin Pillbox Hat was a great opener last year.
I'd like Drifter's Escape or Down in the Flood

This is a very good idea. Pump the crowd up while getting it out of the way. Good concept!

The more I think about it, the more obvious it is that this really is a no-brainer. There are SO many other tunes that could satisfy the encore slots. So many. And now it gets me wonderin' if he's ever opened with LARS. Not that I know of. Anyone know?

It's really a great opener. Gonna listen to Salt for Salt now I think.

'87 Temples in Flames tour at several shows and Pine Knob 8/31/93. Possibly others. He even opened with Joey in '87!!

I like this idea, too. There was a period of years when Clapton opened every show with "Layla" to get it out of the way, so he could play what he wanted for the rest of the night without the crowd screaming "LAYLA!" at him.

I know some folks would like Bob to drop LARS from his set list completely, but that can never happen. It might be the greatest song in the history of rock-n-roll. It's gotta be there every night, for the benefit of those who are seeing him for the first time.

I'd like to hear Isis on the fifth day of May and Groom Still Waiting at the Altar in Buenos Aries.

I was at the rail in Foxboro for Dylan - Dead. I think they may have opened with Joey. I know they did it, just not sure if it was the opener. You probably know, Sphere. Nice to know LARS has been tried at the start. I'm still loving the idea.

New Morning was the WORST song to open with that he ever did imho.. Gonna change My Way of Thinking was really good. Id listened to a boot recently that he opened with One More Cup of Coffee. that was a good one too. It would be like a dream if he opened with something powerful like Idiot Wind or I & I.. personally..id be over the moon.
But at the end of the day..i dont care what he opens with..long as he opens  8)
