How many movies can we come up with that contain a Dylan song? I'll guess we can get over 100 pretty easily and relatively quickly.

For fun, let's also include any movie that mentions him by name or shows a picture of him or any kind of Dylan poster or Dylan album cover.

Let's get some of the obvious ones out of the way...
1. Don't Look Back
2. Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid
3. The Last Waltz
4. Renaldo & Clara
5. Masked & Anonymous
6. I'm Not There
7. No Direction Home

And I'll add three more...

8. High Fidelity (Most of the Time, also Blonde On Blonde album is shown along with the great quote from the Jack Black character: "You don't have it? That is perverse. Don't tell anyone you don't own Blonde On Blonde")

9. The Ballad of Jack and Rose (Boots of Spanish Leather, Shooting Star, One More Cup of Coffee - if you haven't seen it, pretty good movie with Daniel Day Lewis)

10. Almost Famous (no Dylan on the soundtrack but Blonde on Blonde is one of the albums shown when the kid is flipping through the records his sister left him and Dylan is mentioned at least twice..."She almost died last night while you were with (pause) Bob Dylan!").

Let’s keep it to no more than 3 per post and keep the numbering going so that we have a running tally (next one is #11). And try to include the song or reference along with the movie name. We’ll save covers of Dylan songs for when we run out of originals.

In the first Alvin and the Chipmonks movie there was a poster of the Time out of Mind album cover on the wall of one of the rooms; there was however no Dylan covers offered up by the rodent vocal trio.

What about movies that are named for Bob songs?

Just Like A Woman - UK cross-dressing comedy with Julie Walters
Simple Twist of Fate - Steve Martin in semi-serious role
The Mighty Quinn - awful Denzel Washington (I think) vehicle

I watched a movie which had "Thunder On The Mountain" in it but I have forgotten what it was called!

The Big Lebowski with Jeff Bridges. He's a big fan of Bob and in the opening scene "The Man in Me" is playing. Pretty funny movie.

Here's one you might not know about:

There's a really great indie film called 'The Ballad Of Jack & Rose'

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0357110/

Its written and directed by Rebecca Miller, who is married to Daniel Day-Lewis.

I can totally recommend it. DDL puts in a really cool acting job (as ever) as Jack and it has a hearfelt message too, perfect eco-message for the time we are living through. I thoroughly enjoyed watching it.

The soundtrack really complements the film, and has 'Boots of Spanish Leather', 'Shooting Star' and 'One More Cup Of Coffee' by our man.

You can't buy the soundtrack cos they never released one, but this might help you imagine it:
