Seems every book I read lately has Grossman making cameos in some shape or form, and I always thought he'd be an interesting guy to read on. Anyone know if there's a good book out there on him?

The closest you can get right now is Small Town Talk.

I would guess his widow would do her best to be uncooperative for a true biography.

As I recall, there's a significant chapter on him in Myra Friedman's rather strange Janis Joplin bio Buried Alive.

"Small Town Talk" gives the best and most detailed picture of what Grossman was about, but there's also a good chapter on him, "Cumulus Nimbus" in Fred Goodman's excellent book about the music business, "Mansion On The Hill."

I too was thinking of that Goodman book; it was originally published in 1997. Just plucked it off the shelf. That Grossman chapter you note is a good 30 pages long.

Seems to have provided a number of his artists with a lot more than they needed of some things that turned out bad.
