I just heard this for the first time, some really great vocals from Bob, and a story!: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oLT98psoTV8

It's great, even if he does let the girls take the high notes.

You have to take his story with a big grain of salt, like all his stories. If he did visit Detroit when he was twelve, he didn't hear this song. He turned twelve in 1953, and the song didn't come out until 1956, in Little Willie John's recording. And it's funny that if he's trying to make the point that this is real rhythm and blues, it's Peggy Lee's hipster rewrite that he sings here, with Captain Smith and Pocahontas and all that crap, rather than the original. But he can't remember them anyway, so that's all right.

I think it's fantastic and also think the Fall 1980 "A Musical Retrospective" tour is among the best of Dylan's entire career!

That's the kind of singing that made me part ways with Dylan in the early 80's.

I can see what you two mean. I personally like this but there were some performances that were dicey. If you don't mind, when did you guys jump back on?

That was ok. Plodding arrangement brings it down more than the singing.

Opposite-leey, the new arrangement tangled plods along, not in the same way. The gminor switches to major in just the final verse at the very very End. Going by the Latest Version that it is.

Was glad I clicked because it brought up Kaatskill Serenade: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odMt_897XKw

Re: Fever - I didn't listen to all of it...poor sound and I couldn't follow the introduction, seemed like it might be a joke. Dylan was an excellent singer in 1980, though, don't let anyone tell you different.

A great performance, I really liked it.
The introduction...well I guess that's the kind of story you have to tell when you are on a stage. It may not be the truth, but entertainement-wise, it works.
